This company is asking to get sued.
    This. Absolutely this.

Though the story about someone causing an accident because they were trying to catch Pokemon is false, it wouldn't surprise me if it happens at some point. Could you imagine trying to explain that to the police and your insurance company?

IC/Police: "So, um, why exactly did you stop in the middle of the freeway??"
    Person: "Ummmmm...There was a Pokemon."
    IC/Police: <shakes head>

And it wouldn't surprise me that the first time someone steps out in front of a car and gets hit, that a lawsuit pops up against Nintendo. Or if someone gets assaulted, or whatever.

In fact, some goober just fell into a pond while walking toward a "lure"..."I didn't realize that was water!!"

    Idiot.

This game is basically a number of lawsuits just waiting to happen. Someone is going to get seriously injured or die due to this game.

They should have probably blocked out the Holocaust Museum and Arlington National Cemetery, too...

I'm playing it with my fiancé. The closest to car playing we get is driving to the nearest church, pulling in to the front parking lot, getting the PokeStop, then going to the back parking lot to get the other one. Apparently there is a "Free Little Library" we can't figure out where is that is the front parking lot stop.

We park, spin the disk, go on our way.

I'm playing it and loving it. There is a gym and two PokeStops right outside my workplace so I get to go play on my lunch break. And any time I don't have anything else to do.... It got me to take my dog for a walk for the first time in I don't know how long, lol.

The first update has supposedly addressed the privacy issue with the Google accounts. I do wish people were using a bit more common sense with this app (yeah, yeah, I know). It's really not that hard to enjoy the game and still pay attention to where you are. Don't go hunting Pokemon in the ghetto after dark, keep an eye on people around you at the PokeStops, and don't use while driving. I have it on in the car since under 20mph counts as "walking" to hatch eggs, but I only catch things when I'm either stopped or a passenger. Paying attention to the road is far more important.

So I've never played or liked Pokemon at all... But I have this game. I have literally no time AT ALL to play it. I leave at about 7:00 AM, get home at about 4:00 PM, leave again at 5:00 PM, and get home at about 10:00 PM. I have caught like 6 or 7 and all of those have been while at my internship. I could walk to many different thingys. Poke stops or whatever. But haven't had time.

My problem is that I don't want to fight, or choose a team, or level up. I just want to collect, period. I haven't seen even one person playing it, but that's because I've spent the past week indoors with people who either don't play, or are otherwise occupied. I've just been following this craze and for the most part it's amusing the hell out of me. I mean, other than the injuries and muggings and such.

            It's called "Ingress".
            That was it. Thanks!

Based on what I've seen following links from Reddit, the publisher has a method of requesting that "attractions" be removed.
While this will (hopefully) change for the better soon, the only removal criteria they will normally act on at the moment is danger to life.
They should have probably blocked out the Holocaust Museum and Arlington National Cemetery, too...
Well....I take it you've heard WHY on the former...? It seems that someone kinda sorta found a Koffing in there...>_< Good ol' random number generators ... I have heard that they were able to get it removed for that reason, though.

The Pentagon too. Apparently there is a gym in the inner courtyard of the Pentagon.

I will give the Koffing in the Holocaust museum credit for the black humor though.

side note: i found a pikachu and when i tried to catch it i ran out of balls. He took 14! i was sad.

I've been playing Ingress for 3 years or so now. In fact, many of the portals in my city (and in the towns around here) were submitted by me. Niantic's portal criteria for Ingress made Churches and Cemetaries basically auto-accepted, followed basically by anything wiht a name (especially if it says 'memorial' of some sort) and anything with a plaque. And now with PokeGO they turned most of those Ingress portals into PokePoints of Interest.

In any case, I'm playing both games now, still mostly Ingress since GO isn't out in Canada yet (just released in Germany and the UK apparently), and I'm having fun. One of the biggest differences between PokeGO and Ingress is where the action is.

Ingress, all the action is at the portals. That's where you get gear, and where you battle the other faction to claim regions.

In PokeGO, you also have action away from the Gyms. Random spawns happen away from the POIs so you're encouraged to do more away from the portal areas. It's a different style of play, and so far for me, just as fun.

It's obvious that the game's popularity caught Niantic (and everyone) off guard, and they're scrambling to handle the load. That's why the rollout was slowed a bit at first. And between the publicity of the game and with Nintendo hanging onto them, I'm sure Niantic will try to be as quick as possible to adjust the game for sensitive areas.

I don't know if it's true or not, but I heard on the radio this morning that this dang game has more users/players/whatever than Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram -- combined.

First time I get hit by some clown playing that game while driving I’m suing Nintendo and the makers for billions.
15 year old girl hit by car while playing. SHE was playing, not the driver...well, the mom says she wasn't playing when she got hit, but she got hit trying to cross a highway...

Me and my mommy have a few places we want to hit for the fun of hunting like one of the area malls, downtown Mesa or the weird tiny botanical garden.

I just picked Yellow because I felt bad that nobody wants to be on that team. There is apparently some kind of kid's mural near me that I didn't know about, which is a Pokestop. So when I have a little time I'll walk over. While looking up and not wandering into the street.

lol Yellow isnt bad the team leader just seems like a douche. Also it was my mom and mom always picks the nerdiest sounding team there for blue with its stating it focused on the intelligence of the Pokemon won.

And the latest: Two men fell off a cliff, one 75 to 100 feet, the other 50 feet, whilst playing the game. Link here. It sounds to me like the game, fun ans as much of a phenomenon as it is, is quickly going down the road to being deemed dangerous or deadly. That could just be me, though.

ETA: A blurb from the Facebook post I got the article from: "Police in several states have been warning gamers of safety risks. Indiana police say the game is leading to traffic and trespassing violations. Missouri authorities warned users that armed robbers were using the app to target victims." Yeah. This may become the newest, most fun way for people to Darwin themselves!

Someone around here found a dead body in a creek while playing.

If I do decide to try it out I'd like to be able to use my old Galaxy S4 just for that game (nothing else of use on it, so nothing for the game to access).
