Most fashion is styled for the young and thin, and as I'm neither, most trendy things aren't for me. I've looked at things and thought "not on these hips" or "not at my age."

I also firmly believe that if you are old enough to have worn a thing the first time it was "in style", you are too old to wear it when it comes back around. ;P
OMG how true that second sentence is! I'm seeing stuff come back into style that I remember wearing when it first came out ... more than 40 years ago! I didn't look that great in it back then and I would sure as hell not look any better in it now! (Well, maybe the tie-dyed T-shirts ... )

And yep, most fashions for me are also definitely "not on these hips" and "not at my age".

Both my office job and my retail job require roughly the same type of clothing, perhaps best described as "office casual." Only real difference is we're not supposed to wear bright colours in the store. I wear a reasonably comfortable pair of "dress" shoes at the office, and a well-made pair of "walking" shoes at the store.

And on Fridays at the office it's "dress-down" day so that brings into play the only pair of jeans I own and the aforementioned walking shoes.

I think fashion is either too expensive or too ugly. :\ Everytime I go to a nice clothing store, I see nice stuff that are too expensive or ugly stuff that aren't. So then I'm go to Bullseye or MalWart and buy a dozen t shirts and some sweatpants. My sister like wearing designer clothes, with highest heels, and a trailing wrap. She looks great there's no doubt about that, and everyone who sees her must be thinking so too, but all I think is OUCH and isn't that wrap going to catch on something? And isn't she afraid she'll leave her $1000 purse somewhere and lose it?

I've purchased *cars* for less than that!

But seriously, I hate getting dressed up. Mostly because I went to a Catholic grade school, and had to "look nice" (including a tie) every day. Why is it, that the "nice clothes" are always the most uncomfortable things ever made? I don't get dressed up unless I have to. I have one grey suit and a few button-down shirts from Macy's and that's it. My work wardrobe consists of khakis and polos. The rest of my closet is jeans, sweats, and t-shirts...usually free ones from the car show
