I'll be going to my boyfriend's aunt's house to meet up with his mom and maybe his brother. His aunt always gets a smoked turkey from the Knights of Columbus, which is delicous. I'm not sure about the rest of the sides, but we'll probably bring some pie. My boyfriend demands pumpkin pie, and I'll have to see if anyone will eat pecan pie with me. Otherwise, I'll have to find some new kind of pie to bake.

I'm going up to my aunt's! So is my father. I'm really not sure what she's making since it changes every year. I'm thinking about making a pie and bringing it on the train, though I'm not sure if it would survive the trip (3 hours). I'd like to make this double decker pie again - raspberries and strawberries on the bottom, then a thin seperating crust layer, then a layer of vanilla custard and the top crust. Really yummy!
A lot of years they do ham rather than turkey too - we're not very traditional as far as the food goes.
It'll be my two cousins and their other cousin, and all three's girlfriends, and my aunt and father. Technically my uncle is there... but he runs his own medical practice and he's the one on call during holidays, so he never really makes it. Instead we all wait up late and do a separate pie and ice cream deal once he's home.

Well we're definitely not going to be visiting the in-laws this year. Yay!
2 fold reasons: 1. Autistic children don't do well in a house full of peoples with lots of things going on at one time. 2. K3 (all 3 granddaughters on hubs' side have K names, Child Rum would actually be K2), and her sister, K1 and their parents visited my in-laws and K3 came down with Swine Flu!
In-Laws claim they haven't come down with it, but I've heard of people contracting the Swine Flu germs, not getting the actual flu, but are still carrying the flu around and can pass it along to anyone and everyone - such fun.
My mom is thinking of going to Cracker Barrel. I'm thinking of joining her.
Not sure yet.
I don't care what I do for Thanksgiving, as long as I'm not with the in-laws.

I think my Dad and stepdrac(ula) are planning to have our family dinner the weekend before when the middle sister is in town with her hubby and 3 kids (the eldest child wants to attend some concert that weekend) rather than all of them spend another 5 hours on the road late that Wednesday evening to come here (they live in Richmond, VA) and spend the day before heading back so Sis can work all weekend (she's an RN.)
As far as the menu, with my stepmom (er, stepdracula) no telling. One year she fixed chicken, salad and some greenery crud for Thanksgiving.
And she's on another one of her diet kicks now so Dog only knows what monstrosity she'll try to poison us with (which can't be any worse than the weekend I went down right after Dad's birthday last month and she made oatmeal pancakes for breakfast . . .
)
But I still don't know how I'll be working that weekend, as we still don't know what our ordering schedule will be and when we'll get our deliveries, so I might not get to go.
Thanksgiving Day, however, I should be here at home, with my box of wine, the laptop and hopefully something decent to watch on tv (if not, I'm sure I can find a DVD to watch) and we'll have REAL FOOD. So far, Mom and I are planning the usual fare:
Turkey breast (we're planning to get a Butterball this year)
pan of dressing
cranberry sauce
mashed taters
green beans w/white corn
croissants
pumpkin pie
sweet potato pie
chocolate cream pie
and plenty of hearburn pills to chase it all away . . .
I'll know more about what the stepdrac wants to cook hopefully tomorrow . . .

From one idiot who regularly has to make a run to the supermarket for something that was forgotten, thank you from the bottom of my heartQuoth Retail Associate View PostI'll be working. No one gets Thanksgiving off in thehellholestore I work at.
(Any one who shops on Thanksgiving ought to be roasted alongside the turkey.)
Seriously, I don't know what people did before the greedy nature of corporations made people work on the holidays.

We've been invited to my aunt and uncle's house as usual.
If I recall correctly (he mentioned it last year at Thanksgiving), my cousin and his wife will be in Cancun, where she will be competing in an Ironman triathlon while the rest of us gorge on turkey.I don't go in for ancient wisdom

Well, I'll probably be working and since I cook for a living I don't really like to cook at home anymore so here's our menu:
Dominos Pizza
1 Large Cheese
1 Large Pepperoni
Maybe a side of cheesey bread and extra garlic butter sauce.
Mmmmm- mmm, good!

I work the night before and most likely the night after...le sigh. Thankfully...im not the person responsible for cooking!!! Muahahaha. I am however, forever in charge of dessert and Im trying to decide what to do.
http://pinoycook.net/self-frosting-nutella-cupcakes/ Those look good.
Always cheesecake (original..yumm!!), brownines, pumpkin pie, apple pie and usually a few of the easy whipped cream and fruit pies. Also a sweet potato souffle if I can get the time.
My mom should be whipping up some:
*Turkey
*Candied yams ( MY FAVORITE!!)
*Yellow rice and beans (Our puertorican replacement of Mashed potatoes!! LOL)
*Her delicious, coma inducing pan gravy.
*Rolls of some kind.
*Theres more but its late and i cant think. LOL.
Ugh, im drooling over here!!!

I get a free turkey or pie from work for Thanksgiving. I asked my mom her preference and she chose turkey again (same as last year, but the year before I got an apple pie and brought it to my aunt's). We usually do Christmas at another uncle's house, so my mom will put the turkey in the freezer and probably make it on some random weekend once the thought of more turkey doesn't make us all turn green.
Only downside is that I will have to detour to my parents' house after work on the day they hand them out because there is no way a turkey is going to fit into my freezer.I don't go in for ancient wisdom

I'm having the usual Thanksgiving dinner...probably three (or just two) guests this year in addition to the eight core family members. (I first typed "seven" but then I remembered the baby.
)
I have taken on more responsiblities for cooking as the years go on...I'll be baking the bread, making the potatos (mashed potatos from scratch), the green beans (fresh), and I think that's it. My dad is in control of the turkey and my mom always cooks the yams and sets them on fire (family tradition.)
