I have taken on more responsiblities for cooking as the years go on
So have I! Mom always announces, "And Admin made the salad!" (I do always make the salad, and I've started making the pecan pie, except for the crust.) Then my cousin (who is more like an older brother) will make a face, "Well, I'm not eating it!" And a lot of play-fighting ensues.

Yeah, my family is pretty damn weird.

(My older sister, btw, still doesn't bring anything. I revel in that, despite the fact that she's got a career, home, and family, I am a much better cook. )

My mother is the only person who has invited us so I guess we're going there. My wife and I did it two years ago and while things turned out fine, she didn't seem interested in doing it again.

Mainly because my mother had to chip in her two cents every day before the meal. "Are you doing something other than Turkey?" "Why stove top stuffing?" "I'm bringing corn bread stuffing?"

I finally had to tell her she's not bringing anything and if she's going to act that way don't come.

Don't know who all will be there, but besides the Turkey my mother will sometimes make stuffed shells or a lasagna. Mashed potatoes, etc.

We will be going down to Grusome and step mom's place this year. I have an aunt coming from out of state so want to see her. Hubby does not like going to dads for holidays because the food usually is not what he"ll eat and the noise gets to much for him.

Not sure what I'm going to do this year but I'm sure it involves passive aggressive relatives, indigestion and various people trying to get me to eat things I'm allergic to because, come on, it can't possibly be 'that' bad.

Thinking of playing sick and staying home.

We'll be going down to my sister in law's house, about 30 minutes away from us to have dinner with her, her husband and their three boys.

We'll actually be going down there two days before Thanksgiving so we can get all of the food shopping out of the way. They're in a tight financial spot, so we offered to buy everything and then everyone will help prepare it. Plus the kids have been begging us to stay for awhile.

My mom would sometimes make lasagna and garlic bread for Thanksgiving instead of the traditional fare, especially if we had a lot of people coming. It's easier to make 2 big panfuls of lasagna than it is turkey with all the fixings for 16 people.

What are you allergic to? Sounds like my mom not believing I'm allergic to bananas and tricking me into drinking a smoothie with banana in it. She started believing real quick when I got a reaction immediately and almost couldn't breath.

Well hopefully my husband gets home from mexico in time and alive =-). But baring any disasters we'll be going to my uncles with my bro and his fam, my dad, a couple aunts and uncles and maybe cousins. I'm planning on making a chocolate chip pecan pie, and maybe an apple pecan pie or some other version of pecan (the husband and my dad LOVE pecans)

Allergic to wheat, apples, celery, kiwi, cantaloupe, watermelon, cabbage, brussel sprouts most raw vegetables (I only eat cooked), peanuts, sunflower seed oil and most raw fruits.

Makes it hard when you eat at someone's home, they ask you what you can and can't eat and then you get there and there's nothing you can eat. Last thanksgiving I was able to eat the turkey, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce, nothing else. This year I'm bringing my own stuff.

Aww, that sucks a lot. Doubly so since people don't believe you're really allergic. I get that a lot with my banana allergy, since it's so uncommon. "You're allergic to bananas? Really? I've never heard of someone being allergic to bananas before. Are you sure you're really allergic?" No, I just get really itchy and scratchy and can barely breath for 10 minutes after I eat banana, I guess I'm just picky!

Going to mums, I am doing the cooking there with mrDrone helping.

hm, roasting a turkey, classic bread cube stuffing with added chestnuts and dried cranberries. Giblet gravy. Mashed potatoes, orange glazed carrots, homemade cranberry sauce, apple pie, pumpkin pie, maple cake, french onion soup or lobster bisque to start with, fresh baked sourdough bread.

I share your frustration! I've been told that many times even by family members! Makes every holiday a hotbed of risk taking and resentments

Before I moved several years ago and while I was growing up, I had Thanksgiving dinner at my house and Christmas dinner at my aunts. I think out of the 20 years that Turkey Day dinner was at my house, only once no one came because of being sick.

Now I work the day before Thanksgiving, go to my aunts for a few hours, come home, go to bed, and be up at 2 am to be at work at 5 am for Black Friday. Fun, fun. >.>
Eh, one day I'll have something useful here. Until then, have a cookie or two.
