Here in the middle of NJ we got hit pretty hard. Hubby almost got stuck at work tonight. Thankfully his DM closed down the district at 6pm. I'm happy that I have a Mon-Fri job and only had to go out first thing this morning to get blood work done and that was when it first started. It's been snowing here non-stop since 6:30 this morning. They're calling for this to go until 6 tomorrow morning.

The wind has been pretty bad too. I'm on the corner of the building and usually don't get much wind ripping through the balcony. Right now I have about 4 inches of snow on my balcony. Joy.

I've been baking and working on christmas presents all day. Thankfully my cranky heater has been working today. NightWatch, if I were in that situation, I'd be raising holy hell! When I first moved in to my apartment we had problems with our heater. I called them sons-a-beaches at least three times a day for a week until they fixed the damn thing.

That seems rather underhanded. Seriously, they are telling staff they'll get them to work, then not bothering to help them find a way home? What kind of bullshit is that? And how do they expect their staff TO get home?
They dont. Theyll tell you they never said anything about going home...and then they conveniently offer you a place to sleep. Then will ask you to volunteer to cover those that do call out or live to far to get picked up. They did it last big snow about 5 years ago.

        Sneaky snakes they is.

Apparently my dad is not feeling well. My mom said if he is really sick they may be snowed in till spring.

I suppose if necessary (and if the roads are OK...they got a lot more snow than I did, and they're only 20 minutes away), I could go over and shovel their driveway. Though frankly I'd rather not. There are neighbor kids who are old enough to shovel driveways. They should hire them.

Well, I was supposed to go home today from PA to NJ, but the weather disagreed and gave us 1.5+ feet of snow. And it's still snowing. Might not be able to get my car out tomorrow. And I'm supposed to work Monday, but that might not be able to happen either now.

*Glares at snow outside. Glares at broken furnace. Glares at the CS people bragging about their heaters.*

*Is seen walking out of apartment towards management office with a clue by 4 and very disgruntled look on face*
I know the feeling. I came Tuesday to a furnace that was not working. And Tuesday night, it was going to be -20ish with a high of -16 the next day.

The only saving grace is that up here in the Frozen North is that "No Heat" is considered an actual emergency condition.

Short result is that they bodged something together for the night, and I took the afternoon off to wait for the furnace guy to show up with the parts. Which they did the first thing next morning.

Sorry to hear about your issues, NightWatch - hope you can get it fixed in a hurry.

Did I mention I only had enough food to last me until today, Saturday? So if I'm stuck here ANOTHER day, I have no food to eat? Time to start praying for some apocalypse type stuff that makes Key West the North Pole.

So much for a "Winter Wallop" in my neck of the woods.....started around 830pm Sat, its 10am Sunday....its has stopped snowing, and looks like we got a "whopping" 5".

Still gonna be a pain to shovel (I'm just lazy) but we were prepared (ie lots of booze) to be snowed today as well.

Sill meteorologists. Hope everyone who actually got a great deal og snow is safe and warm

                          grrrrrrrrrr.

Actually, we didn't get it too bad. There is a fire hydrant in the middle of the front yard of my apartment and the snow is about up to the bottom of the hose connectors.

Back from shoveling out the cars, looks like we actually got closer to 8". My neighbor was saying they are reporting a foot in my area, but I don't think its that much.

Just waiting for the plows now, though we are def just chillin' in today.

                                BE, don't be mad.

I don't think it's all that bad. The MOTH's mother hasn't emailed us to tell us about the snow and no one's taken me up on my offer to get my sled dogs ready for a rescue mission.
