I spoke with BGs mom the other day on the phone (finally was able to after things have settled down!)
She said that things are settling down, and as Mama Lupo said, she's doing a LOT better. I also got more details, straight from the source if you will.
BG is doing a lot better, but she's still very fussy when they clean her hands (who can blam her!?), and trying to get her to put them in water to do so? Quite the process. She's also regaining the pigmentation in her left hand. Her right hand is a bit slower to do so, but my cousin saw signs of small color splotches the other day, so they're hopeful. BG is incredibly lucky, and we're thinking that's due largely in fact to her being so young, and as Mike said, very resilient. My cousin is upset with the fact the hospitals gave her nothing to give BG for the pain, so she's making do with OTC children's motrin, and making do. But BG is already scabbing which is a good sign, and there may not be a lot of scarring, or rather less than originally anticipated. Yay!
And BG is apparently already a shameless flirt. She had 4 EMTs wrapped around her little fingers by the time she got to the hospital. I was amused when my cousin told me this. Understand BG has these incredible big blue eyes she inherited from my cousin (her mama), and she still managed to flirt while in incredible pain. Silly girl. That alone gives me hope she's coming through this all right, despite the injuries. It makes me glad, and I feel a lot less anxious about wanting to go home and see BG for myself (though the thoughts are still there.)
And I told my cousin about this thread, and am going to C&P and email the comments to her. She's touched, and asked that I send my thanks that so many people from all over the world are sending prayers and positive thoughts for her BG. So, thank you, once again, guys. It's wonderfully appreciated.

Don't worry if people stare at you...call them your "battle scars". You beat the fire and you survived. That is an extremely strong battle to fight.
