  • *sigh*

I really wanted to go running this morning. But the world conspired against me, so I just cleaned the flat instead.

    That burns calories, right?

I'm also doing terribly with regards to food today. I'm stressed out for many reasons, so I'm not eating, because even the thought of food makes me sick. I'll probably force some bland pasta down my throat later, just so I don't pass out.

    • TTO is getting on my tits (minds out of gutters please!)

See, he's of the opinion that I haven't done any exercise unless I've gone to gym.

      HOWEVER

I walk the dog for an hour every day straight after work. And it's not a slow, ambling type of walk oh no! Hopper requires speed walking (even uphill!) otherwise he just doesn't get tired out.

Plus, I do about 45 minutes of walking three times a week during lunch in heels!(the weather here is perfect for it). I don't think I need to gym EVERY.DAY. 3 - 4 times a week should be more than enough.

But noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, just because TTO goes to gym EVERY day, so should the entire world. GAH!

It's this sort of thing that just seriously demotivates me, as he's completely discounting half of my exercise.

      • What if you picked up one of those pedometers to point out how many steps you're taking and figure out how many miles you walk every day? Would that help back him off?

        • Alrighty, well, I have actually been attempting to exercise..woot! Not a lot, but a little. I've been trying to walk a mile in the morning...well, 10 blocks, and that's about a mile, I think. Takes me about 30 minutes to do it. Since school has started it's been more like every other day, but I trying to work out a schedule.

Question, though - I've been walking on the sidewalks, but I've noticed other people walking/running out in the street (this is a very quiet residential street, very little vehicle traffic). Is it better to walk on asphalt as opposed to concrete?

I'm gonna get one of those this weekend so I can see for myself as well. Think I will show him to get him to back off! Thanks KiaKat

              • Always happy to help show up the naysayers

I actually ran the half-mile Evil Hill today! It's actually a bit more than a half mile, though not quite 3/4...so maybe about a kilometre?

I've not been able to run it before. Either my legs or my lungs have always given out. I think it helped that today was incredibly cool and cloudy, so the humidity didn't get to me as badly.

For the first time since I really picked things back up, I managed to run a full 3 miles out of the 3.35mi loop. More, actually, since I went past the "mile" mark (the loop is marked out for a 5K, with 1/4 miles marked, and I start at the 2-mile, pause a little after the 5K finish for water, then pick up again at the 5K start, and it's supposedly a quarter mile from the finish to the start. That "start" until halfway between the 1/2 and 3/4 is The Hill) before stopping for water the second time.

I haven't ordered the water bottle that straps onto one's hand yet, because I leave for Atlanta on Tuesday and don't want any packages showing up while I'm not here. When I do get it, I'll be able to run more without having to pause. I think that will help with endurance, which is my big issue right now.

One thing I've noticed is that I'm definitely thinner, though none of my pants seem to be reflecting that yet. But my arms are noticeably thinner, which makes me very happy, because I was starting to really hate my arms.

                    • Not so much as physical strength, but due to my sister forcing it on me due to recent events. I'm back on Lexapro and Risperdal.

I now only drink about 2-3 cans of soda a day.

Due to Jester advice, I've been lifting some weights, doing a little jogging. My friend and I are going to set up a punching bag in my garage.

I've changed my diet. Now eating more grains, fruits and veggies, as compared to fast food.

Yesterday I had made a grilled pepperjack cheese on wheat bread with some kinda healthy non-butter butter....( ? ) and low sodium tomato soup. Not much, but its only been about 3-4 days.

I'm also been taking multivitiums, and ginkgo Biloba.

                      • Bah, I didn't excercise this week, and due to newly hectic schedule I've been eating out more. So, I think I will work on walking while at work and work my way back up to motivation to be back in the gym by monday.

                        • Have to take another exercise break.....effin leg

Well, I did shed that extra pound I gained last weekend....since I'm laid up a bit.....I just need to work on the eating less....and if I don't think weekend....I will succeed.

I hate to say, this weight loss is rather addicting....I'm at my goal weight....but I might shoot for an extra 3 pounds.....so if I gain on a "bad" weekend....no worries

                          I really miss hiking, though

EDIT: Lost the weekend weight.....and then some Weekend is always hard though, at least the bf is watching his weight as well....no booze and no snack weekend

                          • Ok.

                            Ok.

Dragging myself out for a run. My legs are tired, my body is tired, *I* am tired.

Doing this anyway. I'm determined to get four days in a row. Which means yesterday, today, tomorrow, and Sunday. Monday is taken up with D*C prep, so I may not be able to get one in, and then we leave Tuesday. So this is my last chance to get my body ready for the level of exhaustion I'll be dealing with all next weekend.

I've been invited to a get-together tonight, but it's being held at a bar, and I'm trying to avoid the booze calories right now. So I probably won't go.

                            • So that was a failure of a run. Made it 1.25(ish) miles, and my right leg started giving out on me. I'm not sure if it's the hip, the muscles around the hip, or a ligament, but something is borked.

It didn't help that there's a torrential downpour today, and by the end of that stretch, there was steam coming off of me.

I'll try to do the 1.25 (at least) each of the next two days, then decide on Monday if there's a real problem or if I'm just dealing with my body readjusting to near-daily exercise.
