I just finished reading Eoin Colfers "And Another Thing..." the sixth book in the Hitchikers Guide Trilogy.

Yeah... no. Read it out of a sense of duty to the series, essentially.

Then I turned back to 13 Bullets by David Wellington, an actually refreshing take on the vampire mythos.

Just finished an Icelandic crime novel called Jar City. It was fairly dreary.

Just started Garnethill by Denise Mina. Loving it so far. The characters are very real and and believable, not to mention funny in all the ways that real life can be even in the midst of disaster... such as waking up from a bender to discover your boyfriend tied to a chair in your living room with his throat cut to the bone. That's the dilemma the main character finds herself in.

I recently finished Pacific Air: How Fearless Flyboys, Peerless Aircraft, and Fast Flattops Conquered the Skies in the War with Japan by David Sears. It is a very good overview of the air war in the Pacific during WW2.

Other books I have read recently are The Skin Map by Stephen Lawhead (I'm awaiting the sequel) and Kraken by China Miéville. Both books are very good.

I am presently reading a collection of short stories, Witch Way To The Mall.

Gazebo, I read Jar City and liked it all right, but I prefer Karin Fossum's Inspector Sejer series when it comes to Scandinavian mysteries. They're all pretty dreary though, look where they're set!

Reading On Basilisk Station. I am not usually a military SF fan, and all the tactical stuff and battles and weapons descriptions wear me down, but I like Honor Harrington a lot. I wonder if I'll end up liking her enough to keep reading the series.

On my Kindle, I am currently reading Jack the Ripper and the Case for Scotland Yard's Prime Suspect by Robert House and Roy Hazelwood.

Yeah, I know. I like grizzly stuff. But it's a very fascinating read. And as much as I've read about serial killers in general, I really haven't read that much about the Jack the Ripper case, believe it or not. This is some interesting stuff. While I am not necessarily convinced of all their conclusions, the writers clearly did some impressive research to make their case.

Just finished Monster by A. Lee Martinez, and I'm eyeing the Doctor Who books I have as well as the latest Sherrilyn Kenyon book I bought. And there's Accidentally Catty..so many books...

If you like Christopher Moore, then you might like Monster. It has the same kind of wit and humor. I'm going to see if our local library has any more of Martinez's books, once the husband reads it.

So, by using the Doctor's reasoning, bow ties, fezzes and bandanas are cool.
