I got a bit teary from it, actually. I mean, even though I understand *why* The Doctor parted ways with Amy and Rory (Spoilers!), it still made me sad to see it happen.
Also, yay! Craig is back next week. Am I the only one happy about this?
OK, I was kind of blindsided by the ending of "The God Complex" episode that aired here on BBC America a few hours ago...and I'm feeling a bit bummed. Anyone else??
I really liked this episode, for a few reasons reasons...
First, it gave Karen Gillan a chance to really show off her acting skills...
Second, it dealt with the question I am sure a lot of us sometimes ask: If you could reset your life to an earlier age, would you do it?
And finally it gave us another glimpse of who the Doctor really is... the sorts of decsions he's had to make over the centuries, the burdens he has to carry. I wonder what this is going to do to his friendship with Amy and Rory.
Amusingly, when I watched a replay of the episode later, the Insider was just fine. But it seems to happen a lot on the first runs, as this is not the first time it has happened to me. (I always DVR the first runs.)
Jester - don't know what cable company you have there...but we have Bright House Networks and though they don't seem to mess with the Doctor Who Insiders, they do tend to put local interest commercials over some less local/national spots and they will often be out of sync, cutting into the middle of other commercials. It's extremely annoying.
As for the prevention...we don't know what went on through Amy's head the past 36 years. We're given broad generalization (ie survival is paramount, don't trust the Doctor, still misses Rory), but no specifics. We know that she was told she would refuse the help later on. So I can see why it works, but it's hard to give the proper characterization in the 15-20 minutes they had for it.
Last nights episode I could not totally mesh with. Sorry if something horrid happened and I got left alone for 36 years, then had a chance to prevent it. I would. Plain and simple. I would forgo the hurt and isolation even if the reality of me stopped to be. I logically cannot comprehend someone wanting to hurt for 36 years.
GAH! Is it just the cable company down here, or does anyone else have this same issue with BBC America's broadcast of Doctor Who:
I'll be watching an episode, and at some point during a commercial break, they'll have a "Doctor Who Insider," and about halfway through it, it will simply cut off, and go to the next commercial, without the Insider finishing, sometimes not only in mid-stream, but sometimes in mid-sentence.
It is frustrating the hell out of me! And I know it can't just be me, and probably isn't even just my cable company. Anyone? Anyone?
Well, it was somewhat of a filler. I'm sure most Doctor Who episodes have at least minor elements that carry over into future episodes, but this last one was much less tied into this season's main theme than the opener, that's for sure.
And yes, I know, there is probably more to this story that we will see later in the season....but my thing is, why are Amy and Rory just suddenly so okay with that? After all, The Doctor did find their child, but did NOT find their baby.
YES. You know, I was seriously irked by that. I was not happy at all with that episode. I was so "turned off" by that that I didn't watch last Saturday's episode. I just thought there would be more emotion involved. For instance, when fake-Melody dissolved in Amy's arms, that was probably the most heart wrenching scream I've heard in DW in a long time. What happened to all that emotion? I don't get it.
So, the last episode was a filler episode? I suppose I should get around to watching it some time.
I think there are always going to be "filler" episodes that aren't that exciting...I can't think of a single great TV show that was stellar every single week. Coming up with great storylines is surely a long process!
I would definitely have a problem with not being able to raise my own baby to adulthood...maybe Amy and Rory are just hoping they will still get that chance, and trusting in The Doctor because they have no other choice. I think they're feeling pretty lost at this point, and even Amy, the one who is usually never afraid to speak out or fight back, really is still in shock over everything. Maybe I'm reading too much into a TV show but Amy and Rory have definitely taken a back seat lately.

I am glad I was not the only one who is disturbed by this.
Thank you. When I did #FF (Follow Friday) today, I decided-- on a whim-- to only do #FF tweets if I could come up with a haiku. The one exception was the #FF tweet I did for all of the various Dalek accounts I follow or that follow me.
