  • People are always moving to (and out of) Key West. Perhaps this would be a good place for you? It's a tropical island that still allows you to drive to the mainland U.S. (via 41 bridges), and it has an airport, and its colded recorded temperature ever is 41F. No negative sign. Oh, and it's a place where drinking is considered a sport. Just a thought.

I am nowhere NEAR the equator. Closest we get is the Tropic of Capricorn.

Cold, with frozen smokestacks, iced over toxic waste, tall drifts of hairspray, periodic muggings, and occasional mob hits?
          Got me there.

          • I don't wanna head way out into the county! It's all icy and scary!

Not looking forward to doing the route tomorrow by myself, either. With Hubs AND me, between the two routes I think it took us three and a half hours this morning. If I can't get my car up the hill tomorrow, I can add at least another hour to that by myself.

That does not, however, change any of what I said, as THAT part of New Jersey still exists, and you know it.
              WhatEVER...

I cannot stand any of the reality shows set in NJ, at least not of the Jersey Shore ilk. Cake Boss might be good but I don't watch it. My sister in law went up there last year and took pictures of the place (not to mention partook of the delicacies they sell...).

              • Lest anyone think otherwise, I have never and will never use any of those pathetic "shows" as the basis for my opinions on New Jersey.

"Jersey Shore" blows, but the Jersey Shore rocks.

The rest of New Jersey...meh. My five years there felt like ten.

                  • Hey, much love to y'all in the PNW, but could you do me a favor and keep your stuff to yourselves? The system that's hitting you now is heading toward me for Friday. Ah well...Good thing I have this coming weekend off. Four to six inches of snow on Friday..upwards of 8 in northeastern Iowa. Joy of joys. Oh and as for tomorrow? Wind chill advisory. Wind chills will get to -20 to -30 F. Love you too, Mother Nature.

                    • -30C here right now (-23F I think). No windchill as it's dead calm, but if the slightest breeze picks up we're into "five minute frostbite" territory.

No snow though. Or not much, and it's too cold for it to be slippery (which is why I'm not skiing today as planned; just too dang cold). Snow at this temperature makes the *weirdest* squeaking, creaking sounds!

But Mommy always said it's good to share!

Drive to pick up Hubs this morning was scary, but I survived. Everything that was plowed became ice overnight, and then it started getting windy with light snow. The snow was blowing all over the road, not sticking, but so you couldn't see the roadway. It was a swirling, shifting mass, sort of felt like driving through clouds. Kind of pretty, if it wasn't so scary.

At least locally, we're not supposed to get any more snow, but the ice isn't going away until Friday at the earliest. As long as they keep on top of the sanding, though, I can handle a bit of ice.

So does that mean that Jester and I should share in our lovely warm weather?

Of course I'll be complaining in 5 or so months time when it starts raining everyday
