Happened to me, too. But then I realized you can save along the way and it restarts you from that spot.

        NOTE - GAME-BREAKING GLITCH!

Fair warning - and this is making me hope against hope, even with its relatively small bit of internal storage, that they will PATCH this game via a download...

When presented with the late-game quest to gather the three songs, do the Thunder Dragon/Desert LAST. There is a specific sequence of events you might end up doing that will irreparably corrupt your save file if you do not. Doing the other two songs first will ensure that one of the preliminary steps needed to cause this glitch never takes place.

        Official word/minor spoilers ahoy

Ok, I've finally reached a part where I was a split second from throwing my controller at the TV. Seriously. So, breather time for a minute.

I can't finish Levias to save my life. I end up destroying two of those things, but then I die. Every. Single. Time. I tried 10 ten times in the past hour. This has been literally the hardest part of the game for me so far.

It all goes back to the controls of this that I hate...uggh....

          okay...breathe.....it's just a game

Wait until you destroy all of them. Remember how to skydive? You got to land on the thing's back.

I got one of my X-mess gifts early - BF got me a Wii! And I nearly peed my pants. Skyward Sword is on my list of coveted games, but I'm not sure how much I will enjoy it because I loathe Wii Motes. I always play Wii games with my GameCube controller. I really want the new Ocarina of Time as well, but I'm not giving up my DSi for a 3DS.

I prefer the GC controller as well, but I do have to admit that the way this game (and very few others) USES the Wiimote/Nunchuck actually makes *sense* (except maybe for flying. SCREW flying/skydiving). Your sword swipes actually follow your rough movement -- e.g., if you stab forward, Link stabs; do it while running to jump-atack; slash from top-right to lower left (or vice versa), and so will Link -- note that this is a mission-critical skill, as several enemies can only be killed with the proper slash type and/or proper use of the shield...which is still a bit iffy. It does tend to pop out when you don't want it to, ya just gotta get used to it and learn to parry. Fortunately, some attacks can be parried with the sword if you get the timing down *juuust* right.

Landing on his back = super easy for me (I actually destroyed all the eyes once, but then the parasite killed me...and then I have to destroy those stupid eyes again.)

But those eyes...uggh...I have flown around for 20 minutes trying to get just one of them and couldn't.

I had trouble with the eyes too. What worked for me, but can be a bit of a pain is to fly in close tap the brakes then line up a shot and hit charge. When I say "tap" I do mean "tap" slow down too much and the big giant fish gets out ahead of you. I also found it much easier to come at the eyes in a dive from above rather than head on.

What made this sequence most difficult for me was the speed at which the giant fish is flying.

Yup, that along with the movement of the tentacles. Just when you think you got one..bam! He's too far out of reach and the tentacle snapped back.

Okay, so I finally beat the damned Wilford Brimley Whale. And now I'm fighting Demise again. And he's hard...geez..it's like the game went from very slightly difficulty to 11 in no time flat.

This fight took me a bloody bazillion tries. Or at least it felt like it. I'm assuming your on the very final fight. Learning to use the shield bash is almost a must for the fight IMO. It also helps loads if you do the Boss Rush from the Thunder Dragon and earn the Hylian Shield. Also I found it extremely useful to fill every bottle I had with heart ++ potions. (the heart potion upgraded twice).

***THERE BE SPOILERS HERE(contains specific hints for the final boss)***
In the first phase just parry with the shield and counter attack. For the second phase you can do one of two things. 1: Just like he does hold up your sword and let it get struck by lightning. This will let you do an attack similar to a skyward strike that will stun him. While stunned hit him several times and he will get knocked down, you need to immediately do a fatal blow attack. 2: Use your shield to parry his attacks, you will have to parry several in a row and then counter attack the last hit. Eventually you will knock him down. You need to immediately do a fatal blow when he is down. I found the second method easier because every time I tried to charge the sword he always rushed me and knocked me down. Whichever method you choose you need to not be next to him when he holds his sword up to charge it because it sends out a close range shock wave that will knock you on your behind.

Nope..wasn't my final. 'Twas my third time fighting the Demise beast. But I finally beat him as well.
