Too much chocolate? Is there such a thing?*this post offered by IDrinkaRum who has had too much chocolate/sugar/coffee placed in her system.
I passed a girl one day, waiting for her school bus (she was high school age), wearing, plaid pajama pants, a fleece sweatshirt, what appeared to be slippers (coulda been Ugg booties, I guess), and instead of a coat (it was below freezing outside), she had a blanket wrapped around her shoulders.Quoth chainedbarista View Postit's not limited to kids; there's a rash of those who think sleepwear is appropriate in public: at school, in stores, etc.
I've seen little kids without shoes on in the bookstore, but usually they are being carried or riding in a stroller. Sometimes they are seen eating the shoes... I've also seen little ones in their jammies, but it's usually been in the evening - before the point at which I start saying, "Why aren't they home in bed?"; they often were heading home for teeth brushing and storytime. Little ones shopping in jammies at 8pm are cute...adults, not so much...

the winds are what'll get you. I haven't even had to find my real coat yet i just got a carhartt hoodieQuoth GayleShy View PostIt was a few years ago, but I seem to remember it being around 10, with winds of 60 MPH or so. Not coat-free weather, at any rate. And I used to do carry-outs and crap like that without a coat on too. Heck, I still won't wear a coat until it's around 20 or so. Until then a thick hoodie does just fine.

I understand completely I only have two but with both at two months old some days I have a hard time feeding myself let alone getting dressed. Though it sounds like you do what I do. Wear clothes that are pjs but kinda look like you could go out in them.Quoth NotSoInnocent View Post
I'm guilty of the PJ's during the day thing.
I have been seen at the Wal-Mart... dressed in Guinness sleep pants and a black t-shirt with flip-flops on my feet.

When I was taking classes out at the community college, one winter day my mom offered to drive me because the weather sucked so much (way too cold to be standing outside waiting for the train). We had time to stop at a Dunkin Donuts on the way. When I returned to the car bearing coffee and donuts, she told me of a woman who had come out of one of the houses across the street. Dressed in a thin nightgown and bunny slippers (it was below freezing outside, with fairly heavy snow). Her destination? Dunkin Donuts.Quoth Lace Neil Singer View PostI once saw a woman doing her shopping at the supermarket dressed in pyjamas and huge teddy bear slippers... at 1pm. O.o
The next few minutes of the ride were spent guessing if she had a coffeemaker and/or knew how to use it.

I went shopping the other week. I wore a nice black and white summer dress... with a longsleever over the top, tights, knee high socks, big platform boots, scarf, gloves and fake fur coat. While I was waiting for the bus, a girl wandered up also wearing a summer dress, but with bare legs, slid on shoes, and a silly little denim jacket. O_o Her bare arms and legs looked blue with cold and she was shivering. Yeah the smurf look really looks sexy. -.-

meh. I see mini skirts in 20 below. and 35 degrees is shorts weather here(that is a bit of an exaggeration), I walked out a couple days ago like "holy hell it's fuggin hot" in weather that you would probably be bundled up in. hell I take my gloves off if it's double digits when I do a carryout. I'll probably be out in a t shirt in weather similar to that when I go on vacation to chicago, your clothes don't work in a wet cold anyway so what's the point?Quoth Irving Patrick Freleigh View PostI'm more concerned about the children who dress themselves sometimes!
Yesterday it was about 35 degrees with a pretty stiff wind. I was getting cold being outside for a minute or two doing carryouts with my coat, hat and gloves on. And here are tweens and pre-teens walking around in shorts, capris and flip flops.
It is much too cold to be dressed like that. I'm surprised they don't get frostbite.
and frostbite is physically impossible at 35 degrees, water freezes at 32. instant frostbite is something like 20 below
some parents only have one pair of shoes for their kids, and if the dog shits on them they have to run out and buy a new pair with their kid barefoot, i've seen that, and it's understandable(as I would only have 1 pair of shoes if i didn't live in the frozen place we like to refer to as alaska, but now I have to have 3 because of the weather) as long as the shoes are the first stop. but shirts and pants? dress your fucking kids
what I see more often is parents taking their coats off and wrapping their kid in it to run inside, with only the head sticking out.Quoth GayleShy View PostWhen I was working at Wal-Mart a couple years ago, a woman came into the store with her little girl wrapped half-heartedly under her coat, limbs sticking out. The little girl had on no shoes, no coat and a thin dress with short sleeves. Mind you this was on one of the windiest days of the year, in the middle of winter, in ALASKA. My friend and I were shocked and tempted to give that mother a talking to. I don't care if that girl threw the mother of all fits when (if?) she tried to bundle her up, no parent should let their child out like that. It's just plain wrong.

I'm guilty of the PJ's during the day thing.
But I have a reason!
Actually... I have four!
They drive me batty and leave me no time to do anything, much less actually get dressed.
I have been seen at the Wal-Mart... dressed in Guinness sleep pants and a black t-shirt with flip-flops on my feet.
I am so sorry....

I'm guilty of not dressing during the week. I go to bed at 9 am Monday-Thursday. When I wake up at 5 or so, I get in my pajamas and stay in them until I shower and get ready for work. I don't go anywhere though, and if I do (maybe to like McDonalds or Wendy's for dinner on a Wednesday with my bf) we go through the drive thru.
I dont even go TANNING in my pajamas because it feels so tacky and lazy.

I've even heard now where nudists go shopping in their birthday suits. I think these places are located where it's legal to run around naked, but I still do not think I would feel comfortable doing that. If you bring your toddler in, please make sure you have him sit on a towel first.Quoth Lace Neil Singer View PostI once saw a woman doing her shopping at the supermarket dressed in pyjamas and huge teddy bear slippers... at 1pm. That's too funny. It's like the person that sits around all day watching TV in their nightgown or bathrobe, causing the marriage to deteriorate. I had an aunt like that, but this was back in the 1970's, before her divorce. I'm wondering if she goes shopping like this as well.Quoth Lace Neil Singer View PostI once saw a woman doing her shopping at the supermarket dressed in pyjamas and huge teddy bear slippers... at 1pm. I saw something like this at a Shoney's years ago, back when they were abundant in Florida. This group of four teenaged girls came in with one female adult, and the girls were wearing bunny slippers, bathrobes, curlers in the hair, etc. Mom, or whoever the chaperone was, was also dressed this way, and they were all there for the early morning buffet breakfast. We couldn't believe that, being I and my parents all thought how embarrassed we would all be going out dress like that. I sleep in my underwear, and I don't think that would have been appropriate, not to mention boys don't do slumber parties.Quoth chainedbarista View Postit's not limited to kids; there's a rash of those who think sleepwear is appropriate in public: at school, in stores, etc.
