I was in Barnes and Noble yesterday looking for something for my dad because his birthday is coming up.
Now I had ankle surgery about three weeks ago and am on crutches. Fortunately, I now have a "walking cast" (I can put some weight on my foot and can walk hobble
) and I don't completely rely on my crutches for support except when my ankle is hurting alot.
Since I has been walking more than usual that day, my ankle was hurting, so I was leaning on my crutches with my foot up while I was looking through a book I thought my dad might like. Suddenly, I feel a tugging on one of my crutches and hear a voice saying, "Mommy, what's this?"
I look down and see a little girl, I'd guess to be about four years old, pulling on one of my crutches. And, of course, it's my right crutch, and since I had surgery on my right ankle, that is the crutch that I need the most.
I quickly put my right foot down (yay! pain!
) so I don't lose my balance.
"Little girl, let go, I need that to stand."
Then I hear, "Sweetie, let go and get over here right now!"
I look over and see the mother with a stroller with two little boys.
"Oh my God, I'm so sorry she did that, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. But you should teach her not to do that to people."
"I know. I'm so sorry."
"It's okay really. (except for the intensified pain of course)"
I really hope that mom taught her daughter and her boys not to do that to people. What is the kid had pulled on the crutch of a person who lost their balance and fell or something?
Man, it's a good thing I still have some Vicodin left.
