I'll second that. It was a problem back when I was a wee lad, many years ago.* The problem is that too many girls (not women; I don't consider them mature enough to be women, no matter what their chronological age is) are desperate to have a man. They don't care what they have to sacrifice to get one— including self respect, future potential, or anything, just so they can say they have a man.

And yeah, they get what they deserve. A man who's willing to take a girl who sacrifices self respect, future potential, etc....

Me, I wanted a woman who would be able to help me build a life, raise a family, and generally try to be the best people we could be. Waited. Found one. Eighteen years later, no regrets. Well, minor regret that the wait part was a long time. But in the end, I'm glad I didn't rush that part at all.

This made me smile. Congrats on eighteen years together.

I agree with whoever said to take the warning labels off stuff in order to quash stupidity. I will also go further and say that anyone who does something incredibly stupid, ie like leaving their car in a safari park and running up to the lions to pet them, should not be given any compensation if they survive, and neither should their family. Instead, their story should just be used as warning to anyone who thinks about emulating their behaviour.

I'm smart, I can just be ditzy and forgetful. My attention is on other things.

But if you want a girl who is not only cute, but you can have in depth conversations about psychology, philosophy and english with, I'm your girl.
The boy has said he has only ever had a one night stand with dumb girls, and even that was because he was hideously drunk. He wants a woman he can talk to.

But 'men' are just as bad about this. Girls wouldn't feel that dumb is sexy if so many boys out there didn't find smart women so intimidating. Trust me I have some stories...

Well, no. It's not the new sexy thing. It's the old sexy thing. It's the VERY old sexy thing.

And sadly, that's no act. Any woman who feels like she has to act dumb probably really is that dumb.

But it's okay, she'll get exactly what she deserves...a man who wants absolutely no challenge or mental stimulation from her

So it all works out. Smart men dont' go for these girls.

    Liek OMG!!!!

bleh! Cos you made me think of some of the girls at my company from back when I was in Hawaii. They were in their early 20s and .... when they weren't acting like "omg i'm cute, you have to adore me!" they were using baby-talk.

Yeah. Adult women speaking baby talk.

That's fine when you're talking to babies.... but when you're talking to your friends or guys you are trying to flirt with.... that's freaking nasty.

    :bleach: *vomits*

Nope! They're the larval form of a chestburster alien (yewknow, like in that movie or some junk) and you must destroy them before they yewknow like destroy the whole world of shopping or some junk.

    Here's yer sign!
Another girl with her boyfriend:OMG I have no idea whats going on in the world.I should buy a NYT,but I don't want to read.
Then you can get it beamed directly into your head thanks to this little chip we can implant...in...to...your...uhm Bob? Isn't there supposed to be a brain in here?

Girl with multiple friends:OMG look at these caffeine drinks.I don't drink these they are bad for you,I just drink diet coke.
Aaaand lemme guess...You take your contraceptive jelly and have a few rounds of toast before sex dontcha. To quote Jeff Dunham's buddy Walter..."Dumbass"

Another girl with boyfriend.OMG I don't know which gum to pick,I'm so confused.
A classic example of why brothers and sisters shouldn't marry.

The saddest had to be from the girl that asked me if the endangered species candy bars had the animal on the package grounded up in it?
Yes. Yes they are. Try the Otter...it's delicious

What really pisses me off however, is the fact that the nice girls-and I mean the genuinely nice girls, not the fake nice girls-are always left in the dust, while most guys tend to go for the fake nice, bitchy, Paris Hilton-esque girls. Ditto for the guys-the girls go for only the hot guys.

all 3 of my boyfriends haven't exactly been what you call "hot", but are nice in their own way.
Heh... I'm not good at hiding the fact that I can think, and the guys who want the pretty but brainless, bitchy ditzes are not the sort of guys I'd give the time of day to. This is essentially why I never had so much as a single date, much less a boyfriend, until I was 25.

And I married him. 13+ years ago. The Hubster is hot to me, that's for certain. Any guy with a wicked sense of humor and who is into astronomy and likes to discuss cosmology is hot. The beard doesn't hurt, either. No, he's not easy to live with at times, but then, neither am I, so it balances out. Oh, and he says that only insecure and/or lazy men want the dumb 'cute' twits, because it's a lot easier to get them than to impress a woman with actual standards. ('Dude', a real woman isn't looking at the brand of your shoes or the label on your pants. She's actually listening to what comes out of your mouth and most of the time, she's not impressed, just so you know.)

Haha, the traditional male ditz.....I almost forgot about that.

Unfortunately, yes, the male ditz usually does start every sentence with "Dude" or "Yo man!".....but then again, over the past few years, it's become so acceptable to start a sentence with the word "dude" that that usually is forgotten until the guy says something truly stupid.

A good example of a male ditz was one of my trainees, Naughty Boy. Preppy/jocky, attractive, but dumber than a box of rocks. He once said "Uh...don't potatoes grow on trees?"

I think the problem can be summed up by a quote from a character* portrayed by an original Hollywood bombshell, Marilyn Monroe.

"Men don't make passes at girls who wear glasses." Glasses used to equate intelligence(and probably still do), hence the reason to appear less so for prospective suitors.

My observations have been that young men are also as guilty as young women in this department, however. For every "Like OMG!" I hear from a girl, I hear a similar sounding "Dude! Duuuuude." from boys.

Gender equality in stupidity makes me a sad panda.

*"How to Marry a Millionaire" in case you're interested.
    What's wrong with saying "Dude"??

Although...I don't use it to start sentences.

Not all the time, anyway... XD

Sad thing is, the vast majority of these girls are not stupid. They just saw Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson (who I believe are also not stupid) acting stupid and getting all sorts of attention for it.
...and there's the problem. People act stupid because society *tolerates* it, and nobody has the balls to say "look you fucking moron..." It became trendy to act that way, once Hollywood started *rewarding* people for being idiots. Of course the Hollywood execs aren't exactly stupid either--they're simply marketing to people dumber than they are

Stupid people just piss me off. Mainly because they're so annoying! Of course there are solutions to that problem--simply remove the warning labels off of products. Sorry, but stupidity should hurt. A lot. Eventually, it'll run its course, and the collective IQ of this country will start going up

Can you tell that I don't go for stupid people?

I think, and this is just my hypothesis, that girls act dumb because they are taught that men like a girl who makes him feel needed, and smart girls make men feel inferior.

I suspect these girls are raised by women who believe that book of crap ("The Rules", was it?) and think men don't like intelligent women.

    Unfortunately, sterilization isn't acceptable.
