Doesn't matter what it says, I'm still gonna have to look to read it.

Here's an article about Halloween costumes for kids this year...

Many Halloween costumes for kids are more naughty than nice
If I ever have a little girl that I'm taking trick or treating I will let her wear that so I can make fun of her when she's freezing from the weather. It is always rainy and cold where I live for halloween so people never walk around like that.

After turning blue and being tormented by her mother for not covering up, I bet she'll learn to put on clothes...or I'll get the yard stick and use it on her.

What really makes me sick is that parents are buying a costume for their kids that is actually outright named "Lovely Lolita".

I mean, come on, how can you even pretend that's not an invitation to pedophiles everywhere?
Because people are stupid and no one ever thinks that people will not abide by the law. I always assume someone is out to get me, hence me learning how to punch and then teaching my friends so they could be paranoid too.

Uh, something I picked up from the chaps who work in High Tech Crime (and Child Protection) is that 'Lolita' is a common search word for illegal content.

How can you morally market such a product...?

Hell go to japan. "Lolita" is a common theme, especially around Harajuku. Of course for most of the Japanese, "Lolita girls" don't usually show anything naughty... they're just dressed like porcelain dolls with a crap ton of lace, sometimes with a touch of goth.

hey i'll have to show that article to mom. that's from my hometown. we're not there anymore tho.

            That's my Halloween costume. ^^

Covered from neck to wrist to toes. But it's STILL considered sexy by some.

I've heard of a fetish involving women dressed in Boiler Suits.

I think I see boobies, so it's either a girl or a very nice stuffing job.

                      Either way, it's Gothic Lolita.

DAMN, I wish I could afford something that frilly.

Oh, I'll be the first to admit that it's a great look, but the costume in question is a mid-thigh-length kimono marketed towards teenage girls, not an actual Japanese Lolita or Gothic Lolita outfit. On one hand, considering it's marketed towards teens... an audience that is quite likely looking for 'intimate' attention among their peers... I can't fault them completely for the design. Yet, on the other hand, with a name like that they might as well have called the costume "Geisha Slut"* and been honest about it.

Also, for those that don't know, the term "Lolita" comes from a novel about a pedophile and his obsession with a 12-year-old girl (Wikipedia Link), and the common usage of the term is to describe a "sexually precocious young girl" that's way too young to even be legitimately called Jail Bait.

*Yes, I know Geisha were skilled entertainers and hostesses, not prostitutes. I'm just making a point here.

One of the costume companies mentioned in that article (Rubie's) has a "sexy Ghostbuster" costume Which, as expected, is the subject of a lot of ridicule on my GB forums (there's been a standing dare ever since that costume came out for one of the females with an accurate suit to buy the thing and wear it, nobody has taken the bait).
"Here's one thing that no one's talking about: It's the mother that's making the purchase," Beige said.
True, but the parents are making the purchase because the kid wants it and they're too chicken to say no.
The costumes are not made in a vacuum, Beige said. Everyday clothes show midriffs, too.

"It's not just Halloween," he said. "It's the world we live in today."
                          Oh, please.

Doesn't matter if the kid wants to dress like that or the parent wants her to. If the child wants to dress like a slut, it's the parents' duty to say No and make it stick. There's a reason children don't have capacity to enter into legal contracts.

kinda sad in a way... the gals thinking, "o i'm soooo hot... i'm sexy, they all want me." and in reality... "no... the guys just think (or know) that you put out on the first date"
I've had that. Guys would ask me out and we'd go out once and then I wouldn't hear from them again. I asked one of my guy friends why that was and he said, "Well it's because you're not 'easy'." Thank goodness for that! I've also been told I'm the type of girl guys want to marry, not date.

One of my guy friends had that line used on him a lot.

Basically means they want to f*ck around before settling down with a Nice Guy/Girl.

Except by that time, no Nice Guy/Girl will want anything to DO with them.
