  • You really need that many photos?

Just got back from Wal of green things, having to get my photos for photography class printed. What an....interesting experience it was!

I had gone there an hour before, but both of the kiosks were full, so I left and got a few errands done before coming back. The one old lady who had been sitting was still there and another lady was waiting. She said she had been waiting there for 45 minutes. Turns out, the old lady was printing out 500 pictures in one order, and had 2 more large orders to do. Now, the photo center was open until 10pm, but with all her photos, my pictures wouldn't have gotten done until the next day, which would not have been good, since I needed those for class at 8am the next day. So, when her first order of 500 is finally done, I step up.

    Me: duh
    old hag: OH

Me: Excuse me, ma'am, I'm sorry to ask, but I need to get these pictures printed for my class tomorrow. I was just wondering if it would be at all possible if I could use the kiosk real quick. It will take me 10 minutes at the most.
OH: *huffs* Well, I have two more orders to do and I need to get these done before my surgery!
Me: *what do you need over a 1000 pictures for before a surgery? Really?* Well, I'm sorry ma'am but it will really only take me 10 minutes and I need them for a class.
OH: *angrily takes out her memory card and grabs her bag* Well, I can't help it if I have surgery!
Me: *internally rolls eyes* Well, I can't help it that my professor made our due date tomorrow. I don't feel like failing my class because someone had to have their vacation photos printed, when they could just do it on their computer.

She gets even more huffy and leaves. I sit down and get my order done in less than five minutes. The photo clerk was laughing the whole time in the back and congratulated me on telling her off, since he couldn't because he liked his job. I told him I was sorry that he had to do 500 or more photos and he said "it's cool. that's what i get paid for."

I'm waiting to see if she'll be there still when I go to pick my order up.

Printing out 1000 pictures on one of those Kodak kiosks is hella stupid. Have that done at a full service photo lab instead. Walgreens still has them; at least the one in town does.

I give this lady credit for at least being knowledgable about digital photography. I have to do everything for my mom for her to be able to use her digital camera properly! Still though, she was quite rude and there was no need for her to print all those pictures out at once and not give you the time you needed for yours.

I took over 700 on my last cruise. I ended up deleting 100 or so that didn't turn out.

Who wants to bet that her surgery was scheduled for at least a week or more away?

I average more than that per day during Ren Faire! (Must have taken a few thousand this year alone!) I love my new Coolpix P100!

I would've just gone to a different store. Walgreens isn't the only one that does pics. Heck, within a 5 mile radius, we've got Walgreens, CVS, Target, Wal-mart, Wolf Camera and Rite Aid that all have those picture kiosk thingies.

And I thought using my Aid of Rite's service photo lab to print 600 pictures from 3 years ago to a few months ago was bad. 1000 on those kiosk things and being an utter bitch? I feel better about my actions now.

I really couldn't, since it was so late; most of the other stores that print photos close at 7 or 8 (the photo centers at least). Plus, our professor was able to get us discounts for prints for the class specifically. All we had to do was show them our little coupon card and our student ID and we got 4x6 prints for .15 cents each and 8x10 for .99 cents each, which was WAY cheaper than what I was paying at WalMart previously. And they could only be used at that specific Walgreens.

I had to leave the printing to the last minute because I was still taking pictures for the project until the sun went down, since my crazy weekend kept me so busy.

I do at least that many when I got to a sporting event. But about 450 of that wont be used as they are there to setup the shot I really want (hitting the auto shot on the camera to get several frames of a pitch for instance).

but I rarely print the pictures out.
