This is one of those things that's kind of hard to describe... but trust me in that it's funny.

I've been known to make comments about suffering from chronic bouts of prolonged internal bleeding. Thankfully, I don't bleed very heavily, and I don't get cramps very often.

However, I started having some issue, probably related to diet, where a week before I'd start, I'd feel like I'd been the ball in soccer match. For whatever reason, when I added tortilla chips to my diet a few months back, that stopped it. I suspect that it was related to something else that was affected by the hormonal change right before menstruation and the change corrected whatever it was.

As for dropping "monster loads" I don't really get why guys think they're the masters. I've never caused a log jam and clogged a toilet, but I've had a couple that required more than one flush to dispose of. And many of the nasty toilet stories from CS involve the women's restroom...

This will sound strange but...This thread really made my day! Seriously, I'd been frustrated because I have very bad periods, and often feel like the only one with the gushing/clotting.seepage problems. Obviously not!!

My body really pisses me off sometimes. My periods have always been irregular, which is irritating enough. When I hit puberty, up through college, they were heavy and very painfully crampy. The cramps stopped a few years ago, only to be replaced by heavy clotting (and if you think that's TMI, well, let's just say I have some far more "interesting" stories!). ARGH!!! Stupid girly parts, don't know how to do their damn jobs....SIGH.

Anyway. You gals made me feel a lot better today.

My gf has been bleeding and passing what she describes as 'slices of liver' for three weeks or so now. She has always had heavy periods. Come june she is having an operation to have the lining of her uterus scraped.

Anyone else here w/the irregular cycles think they have PCOS? I fit a good number of the major signs/symptoms but my blood test for it last year apparently came back normal. I'm not convinced though. (Not that it matters at this point b/c there would be nothing done differently until I want to have kids but it's still a good thing to know.)

The phrase "squelch when I sit down" earned me a referral for an ultrasound.

As for 'period pants': I use every pair of pants I own, including the special towelling ones with PUL outer lining.

Blood test? I never had a blood test and I have [am getting ready to have had? is there a proper tense for someone about to get a hysterectomy?] PCOS but it was originally spotted when I had a lap tubal ligation, and confirmed repeatedly through an occasional ultrasound checking on my plumbing through the past 30 years.

And may I recommend that if you are not planning on kids for a few years, dont torment yourself with the damned period and ask for norethindrone to stop having periods ... quality of life is SO much freaking better and it will not inhibit future fertility. Honestly, there is NO reason to be tortured 12 times a year.

Yeah, something to do with hormone levels. I haven't had a ultrasound since I first went to the OBGYN though so it's entirely possible to me that the cysts are there.

I'm on the pill and that works for me - shorter, lighter than when I'm not so I don't mind having a period as much. Besides, I remember to take that pill so it reminds me to take my other medication too.

due to some nasty cramps, yet again i tried a new pain killer lol

ive tried advil and tylenol. now ive tried aleve.

i cant take midol or excedrine (caffeine, i can have small amounts)

seems ok, but the fact that it lasts two days--not cool!!!

You know some restrooms have the machines that dispence tampons and pads for a fee.

The public bathrooms on the frist 3 floor didn't have those machines. The one on fourth was busted. But the machines in the employee's women bathrooms have operating machines (years ago0>

This woman came up to me and asked if there were any tampons in the building. The fourth floor machine is busted. So I told her i would get her a tampon from our machine for $.15. She gave me the money, I got her the tampon and she didn't even bother to say "thank you." Next time she can walk 2 blocks to Eckerds (when we had Eckerds downtown) to get a tampon.

Sorry, one of the main issues of PCOS is whacked hormones .. and *not* everybody is the mean [average] frex, my normal body temp is a range between 94.2 and 95.3 ... when you shove a thermometer in me somewhere and it is reading 99 *I* have some serious issues ... not a pidly 1 degree of temperature ... and for almost 15 years the US Navy kept telling me that my thyroid and parathyroids were perfectly normal ... of course I still have the lab report where my blood calcium is 11.9 mg/dl instead of the more normal 6 mg/dl. My civillian doctor about stroked out and got me a top notch endocrinologist, who set me up with the top surgical endo at Yale and an operation time. Thankfully, I worked heavy labor as a youth and have always liked dairy so I got away without too much damage other than going from 5'7" to 5'5" and a spiffy scar on my neck from getting one of my parathyroids yanked.

Dont go by labs, ask for an ultrasound. If they wont do something, demand a different doctor. Jump up and down on their desk if that is what it takes.

Pill works fine for me; so that's what I'm taking. It also deals with my PMS so it's all good. XD I'd love to be sterilized, but apparently even tho I'm nearly thirty, I "might change my mind". -.- Bitch please.
