Quoth aurelemsrealm View PostThis sounds like one of my wife's uncles. He is notoriously horrible to wait staff in restaurants. The rest of the family usually ends up embarrassed, and trying to make up for it.
I also had a friend one time give a waitress a hard time over his meal, and he only stopped when I told him to shut up because I was sick of hearing his bitching. I've never gone to dinner with him since that time. If the food is bad enough or the service is horrible, I refuse to leave a tip, but otherwise I try to be gracious when dining out. I don't throw temper tantrums, and I don't like others throwing temper tantrums. If it's that bad, I just walk out, and that's only happened once or twice.
You penalize the waitperson if the food is bad?

We've had tipping pros and cons threads go down the toilet faster than last night's curry before, folks. Let's not get into that argument again. Save it for fratching where you can argue all you like, yes?
Jais, you're fairly new. Some things tend to go badly wrong and disturb the peace and unity of this site. Politics, tipping, religion - all seem to end up with major arguments and people falling out. I run www.fratching.com on a similar basis to this place, save for it being where contentious stuff gets argued about safely. Just a heads up

I don't even LIKE steak sauce.. sour cream, or ranch dressing on a dry steak (like my stepdad sometimes makes, unfortunately) and nothing on a good steak.. ^_^
Oh and white peppered gravy on a country fried/chicken fried steak =p"If looks could really kill, my occupation would be staring" Brand New - I Will Play My Game Beneath The Spin Light

I've seen it at Cost Plus World Market before. Oh, but that is an evil, evil store. But it's the only place I can find the cookies I like. If they just carried Irn Bru, too....Quoth Stormraven View PostI gather that HP is a Heinz product. Is it exclusively UK?

My dad says steak sauce is for people who don't like steak.Quoth Pagan View PostIf a steak is done properly, one doesn't need steak sauce.
My sentiments exactly! I like my steak cooked medium, with a sprinkle of salt and potatoes with lots of butter. Yum!Quoth ringo View PostI am about to go get some steak my self soon for dinner. My "sauce" of choice is the mash potatoes.

My dad knew a guy who liked his steak blue - "Just run the cow past the table and I'll take a bite!"Quoth Lace Neil Singer View PostBest thing to have with steak is blood, and lots of it. Then again, I love my steak to be so rare that it's practically mooing. XD
Now I want steak. I have an Outback right down the street. Not the best option but they do takeout.I don't go in for ancient wisdom

Around here it's not so much the rain--but the strong winds that typically accompany the precip. I sometimes struggle to walk through some storms--you definately don't want a grill going under those conditions.Quoth Pagan View PostOh, pshaw, rain doesn't stop grilling around here. Hell, I've been out on the porch grilling while it's snowing. Which is a unique experience. Nice and warm on my front whilst freezing my ass off!
There's no "grilling season" here, it's a year round thing.
BTW-the sirlions turned out well.I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

I don't put steak sauce on steak...because I don't eat steak (I do eat it rarely, but I'm just not a big fan. Personal prefernce, nothing more!).
I don't know WHY the hell I started doing this, but I did it as a child and still do it, but I put steak sauce on white rice and mix it in. Gives it a little spicy kick cause its other was bleh to me. Considering no one in my family ever did it, and I'm picky about my food textures, I'll never understand why I even got the idea to do it.

I like a1 on potatoes and tofu, they are nice and bland and the spicy kick works out nicely =) havent tried it on rice, i like bulgogi sauce [korean beef bbq sauce] on rice though.Quoth Cats View PostI don't put steak sauce on steak...because I don't eat steak (I do eat it rarely, but I'm just not a big fan. mark me down as a nearly raw cow person myself. mrdrone likes his well done into the almost jerky mode
I like salt and freshly cracked pepper, or a compound butter on steak [butter mixed with herbs]

Remember, I live in the desert southwest. Rain don't enter into it. We've only had a little over an inch for the year so far.Quoth taxguykarl View PostAround here it's not so much the rain--but the strong winds that typically accompany the precip. But wind? Wind? You want to talk wind? Yeah, I know Chicago is called the "Windy City", but we've got wind, too. What you're talking about is just out-flow from storms.
There will be times in the spring where we can't see the mountains because of the dirt blowing....and they're only 5 miles away. At the Highland games I was at two weeks ago, we had a microburst during the night (Friday) that took out the main stage tent and on Saturday, we had up to 55mph gusts with sustained of around 35-40mph.
My parents and I were the only ones not shocked by the 50mph gusts at the Giant's Causeway (remnants of a hurricane) when we were there.
In the spring, we're happy if the wind is only around 20-30mph, which we refer to as a "breeze". I-10 between Deming and Lordsburg is routinely closed because of wind which causes zero visibility. I remember them clocking several gusts in El Paso at 100mph a few years ago.
And you will still see people grilling. It's floating wicker propelled by fire!

How funny. I grew up in CA and now live in the midwest. I've never heard of HP. Grew up on Heinz57 and worcstershire sauce. Those were the only ways my mom could get me to eat steak. I have to say that I don't think ANYTHING warrants shoving food at someone."Is it hot in here to you? It's very warm, isn't it?"--Nero, probably
