    And it keeps going down.
But it's a damn good ride at that.

I would say someone grabbed a shovel and started digging . . . but then sheldonrs had to go play with the dynamite and blow a big crater-sized hole in it . . .

I was once asked if we sold pets at the store I worked at, and the only thing I could say was that we just sold food and some supplies, but that there was a pet store down the street.

Pepsi released a soda maybe two months ago called Pepsi Throwback, made with real sugar. Not bad, although the "Pepsi" taste seems a bit lacking (then again, that could be because it's been so long since I've had soda without HFCS). Unfortunately the only place I can find it is an indie grocery store in RI.
We were selling it at my store for awhile but I think it's been discontinued in this area.

Limited editions are like that though . . .

And now I'm missing the Diet Dr. Pepper Cherry Chocolate.

They carry that at work. Not knowing when they changed over to HFCS, though, I can't say that prior to that I'd ever had sugared Pepsi.

Mexican food stores supposedly have sugared Coke, but I've not looked into it, partly because I'd feel out of place in them, being terminally northern European as I am.

On the other hand, they get real Coke, with sugar, instead of the syrupy blechery available in the states thanks to sugar tariffs.
No we don't. At least, not to my knowledge. It's still HFCS.

ETA: I'll be damned! WE DO! A friend left his empty can over, and I checked the ingredients list. Sugar/somethingelsesugar was second, right after water.

*Yup, Mountain Dew in Canada is caffeine free. It also doesn't sell nearly as well compared to other brands in Canada as in the U.S. That is probably not a coincidence.

I hear tell of people who take US Dew north on pre-planned trips (mostly conventions), and trade for Canadian Coke. Unfortunately, being here in Bumfuckistan, Dixie, I only hear of this via teh intarwebs, as no one I know locally regularly even crosses the Mason-Dixon line, let alone the 49th (or whatever, not sure offhand) parallel.

When I was working at a TJ Maxx some guy asked me if we do adjustments on clothes.

I could understand asking that question in Macys or some place that specializes in suits but TJ Maxx is essentially the Wal*Mart for overpriced crap. We don't adjust anything on it.

There's a story on actsofgord about how he was ordered to stop bringing certain brands of soda from Washington state into B.C. that weren't available in Canada at the time. (Cherry Coke and [caffeinated] Mountain Dew*)

He was told it's illegal for him to sell them in his store because they don't include french on the labels.

Now, despite being an official language, french is not particularly common outside of Quebec. It's roughly equivalent to spanish in the U.S., in that most people took a few (required) classes in school, and know a few phrases and words.
And here in BC it's about as common as spanish is in new england.
I have lived in 4 Provinces and have never once met a Canadian who spoke only french who did NOT live in Quebec.

This example is admittedly out of proportion, but imagine if Hawaiian were recognized as an official language of America, and everything in every state were required to have labels in both english and hawaiian?

Not sure if this is true, but I'm told the university in SLC has the only vending machines in America that stock caffeine free Mountain Dew, and it has to be imported from Canada. Smiley, can you confirm/deny?

Isn't French one of the official languages of Canuckistan, though?
Yes, but as the US has NO official language, the effect is the same.

That seems like it'd skew the issue a bit. Not quite apples/oranges, but maybe red delicious apples vs Granny Smith apples?

    WE'RE IN TEXAS!!!

Please! For the love of all that is holy, STOP complaining we have items that are listed in Spanish as well as English! And quit threatening to call immigration because we have Spanish speakers working here! And quit saying that because some items are listed in Spanish, they are therefore made in Mexico and are not safe by U.S. standards! The majority of our products are made right here in San Antonio!
Be amusing to send these complaining fools to Canadalandialand to see the product listings in French and English. Importing French-made goods?

    Heh.

Actually, if they have product information in English, doesn't that therefore mean they were made in ... England?
