"No, no, no. You are one of color. I will wait for someone else." No joke, those were his exact words.
Um, if he's Indian, doesn't that make him also "one of color"?

There are certain religions that have directives like: don't allow a woman to touch you that are meant to be adhered to ALL THE TIME. No matter what country you are in or who you are with. To not adhere to the rule is considered sinful/an affront to God/something very, very, bad.

I'm not saying the guy in the story was right for acting how he did, but I can understand how seriously some people take their religious directives.
I can understand this. I'm not religious, but there are other situations someone might simply be more comfortable with one gender or the other, for whatever reason. But if it's that important to you, especially if the larger society you are in does not subscribe to those views, you need to realize that you may not have an option, or you will be waiting a while, and you should be polite about it. If a patient/customer politely told me "It's against my religion to have you help me" I would simply inform them that either a.) I'm the only one (if that's the case) or b.) they will have to wait for someone else to become available. (My own opinions on the subject would stay out of it, at least in the presense of the customer.)

Of course, if they're an ass about it, I wouldn't be going out of my way for them, either. If you want to hold to strict rules of life, and you are surrounded by people who do not hold the same views, prepare to be inconvenienced.

There was a guy sitting on a bench waiting for one of them to open up. He looked Indian, and had on a white turban of sorts. Since she doesn't have anyone at her desk, she approaches him and asks if she could help him. His response?

"No, no, no. You are one of color. I will wait for someone else." No joke, those were his exact words.
The manager of the bank should have kicked him out of the bank immediately. I'm offended that his request was actually granted because it only served to enforce it as a valid request.

She left the club and the guy DEMANDED from the Concierge the woman's room number because he was not finished with her yet!
yeahhhh right.. Let's give a woman's room number to an irate man who wants to scream at her.

        "one of color"?
        tho technically we all are
except the invisible people. .. those you gotta watch out for - if you could see them that is...

You listen for the invisible people. Or use echolocation.

I use to work for two asshole brothers like the sexist pig in the original post. They had only recently become American citizens, but for some reason didn't feel like adhering to federal employment laws.

I'm sorry, but it offends *my* faith for women and others to be treated like that. Don't like it? Don't live in a country with equality.

I feel your pain, Loki. People REALLY dont think before they speak.

Admitting a patient the other day, I had a MALE patient tell me he didnt want a MALE nurse or aide b/c he "didnt like the gays.."

He's lucky it was about 5am and the room was dark so he didnt see my contorted face...b/c that came completely out of left field.

Not trying to fratch...just people are completely clueless. If I happened to be a lesbian, then what?
LOL You should have told him ALL the females there are lesbians.

'Course being a typical homophobic idiot that might have made him happy. (they seem to have stupid double standards)
wouldn't lube work better in a f***ing machine?

Yes, that’s right. It’s a pair of gold foil headphones. Gold foil. Finally, headphones just as awful as your taste in music.

                Amen to that!

There's not much else I can add (that wouldn't take this into Fratching territory) except to say I'm sorry that you (and MergedLoki, Jay and Amina516) had to deal with idiots like this.

I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

I'd just like to thank you for that, since we're already dreadfully close to the line, and I'm asking everyone to watch closely so that we don't need to redirect this over to Fratching.
