  • Epic Parking Fail

What is wrong with this picture? Notice something out of the ordinary with your usual parking lot parking pattern? And yes, the spaces in the lot were clearly lined. The 2-people who got parked-in had a doozy of a time getting out of their spaces.

I got called about this while I was on break. We paged the Driver several times. I put cones on either side of his car and directed traffic not to go through. It took him about 20 minutes from the time I got the call to return. He had no excuse and no explanation, other than seeming upset that I put cones around his car and asking me "What are you going to do, scold me?" I told him yes, he should have known better and that he was 3-minutes away from us calling the police. This was a late, middle-aged gentleman with a very nice car by the way.

Good thing he wasn't in my way. I would have taken pictures and a video of me doing lots of damage as I pushed him *out* of the way.

Personally, I believe you should have called a tow truck when he didn't respond to the first page. A nice couple hundred dollars towing fees can really impress into someone that they need to obey the rules (ok not everyone learns, ok less than half, come on leave me that one last wisp of hope after 20+ years as a CustServ rep). Besides hitting em in the wallet is where it hurts.

Y'know, some day someone is going to make millions by actually managing to track the thought processes that lead to crap like this.

I mean, parking like that would actually be HARDER than just pulling into an available space. You KNOW someone is going to notice and squawk, you could easily get ticketed or towed, and for no appreciable benefit. Assuming he didn't know the people he blocked in, WHY DO THIS?

Some people would say 'To be a douche', but I still don't understand it. Why cause yourself expense, difficulty and potential harm just to cause a much lesser degree of potential harm to someone you don't know and have no beef against? Even sociopaths have a sense of self interest.

Y'all are way to nice. As soon as I saw this I would have had a tow truck there. Forget paging the moron.

There's no excuse for parking like that...other than to be an ass. I don't know why someone would want to do that--wouldn't it take more time than parking normally? In fact (and I don't agree with it), parking like that is just *asking* to get one's car messed with--I know people who wouldn't hesitate to break a window, put the thing into neutral...and push it out of the way. I too think the store was too nice, I'd have called the tow truck first. But, I'm a bastard like that

no, no paging, call a tow truck. isn't he blocking traffic? if someone had run into his car, couldn't they have sued your company since it was in your parking lot? that guy was just being an ass.

That was done purposely to make some kind of point; it was too much work to be out of convenience. I agree with protege and everyone who said, "tow it."

Yep, my choice would have been to call a tow truck right away.

And, if it wouldn't have been a waste of a Police Officer's time (unless some confrontation started to take place), I would have liked to call the Police as well, and have them check check him for being under the influence.

Even though I figure it'd likely that he wasn't, it would have been a fun way to mess with him for being such an ass.

I would have put an announcement out saying:

"Can a forklift driver from the loading dock please come around the to the front car park to help with a <make> <model> with a reg plate <plate>?"

                            (yeah, wishful thinking)
I am so SO glad I was not present for this. There would have been an unpleasant duct tape incident. - Joi

                              Cool diagram. If it's accurate...

I don't want to know why.
I don't want to know who.
I don't want to know where.

I just want to know HOW!
