I know what you mean about hoarding-I'm not a hoarder (I can't stand being cluttered, I'm a bit claustrophobic and I need a lot of room to work with my crafts and such anyway) but I used to live next door to an elderly woman who was, because she lived in a very hard time when she had no way of knowing whether or not she'd have anything within the next few days or so, so hoarding food and things to sell for food money became a survival instinct for her, that continued until she was finally put in a nursing home. Her daughter has been finding totally unbelievable things stashed away in the back room of that house, and it's taking forever to clean out (even with my mom and I helping her), but she was not by any means a slob. It was a matter of life and death for her and her family, and that kind of instinct is really hard to push aside, even in safer times.
That guy had no right to say those things, and I wouldn't have bothered being polite telling him to get lost.

Though I do have to say that as much as I LOATHE cleaning (especially the bathroom), I get in the mood to clean like mad after watching Hoarders (some of the hoarders houses are horrendous...only one I saw that wasn't so horrendous was one that was more of the shopaholic variety).
