A few things:
1) I have really random tastes in music, film, tv, etc. Especially for a girl.
2) I've grown to really love a French pop musician named Zazie. She's fantastic and you should all go look her up on youtube.
3) I also LOVE Mythbusters, but I don't have cable. I've bought one of their DVD sets, looking for others.
4) I have a rewards card at my favorite movie/music/electronics store, Best Buy.
Okay, so I had recently received a rewards coupon in the mail from Best Buy and the damn thing was burning a hole in my wallet. I had been searching for a Zazie CD (aware that there wasn't a snowball's chance that I'd find it in a store in Midwestern America). But I much prefer going to a store and buying something to buying online. Call it a lack of trust in the postal service, if you like.
I went to the local BB, and search around music. Can't find the CD anywhere, no surprise. So I set off to the DVD section to search for 'Mythbusters' and whatever else I can find. I'm looking at the 'M's in the television show section. Here is where I get approached by helpful, cute associate.
Cutie: Best Buy Associate
Me: C'est moi.
Cutie: Can I help you find something?
Me: Yeah, um, do you have 'Mythbusters'?
Cutie: Yeah, it's under 'D'.
Me:
Cutie: For Discovery.
Me: Because that makes so much sense.
Cutie:
right
Me: Oh! I found it!
Cutie: Where!?? I don't see it? (a little flustered that the customer beat him to the search)
Me: Right there, oh, I already have that one.
Cutie: Can I help you with something else?
Me: *supresses naughty thoughts* Actually, I'm looking for a CD.
Cutie: No problem.
Me: It's French.
Cutie: That might be a problem.
Long story short: He goes over to his computer, looks it up, and sure enough, they only have them at the warehouse. But he's nice enough to go over all the online procedures and how some of them might take forever to even get shipped.
I've had some bad experiences with employees in electronics stores, mostly because I'm an idiot when it comes to technology and sometimes I ask silly questions. But this guy, I wanted to put in my pocket and take home with me.
At the end of the day, I bought "Shoot 'Em Up" (mm, Clive Owen) and ordered 'Totem' by Zazie online. Which I'm listening to right now.
Moi, je tourne en rond, je tourne en rond
(I turn it around, I turn it around)
