I luuuuuuuuurve watching Ramsey eviscerate the incompetent morons.

I want Seth gone more than Lacey or Colleen at this point.

Colleen is at least decent comic relief....Seth is just an anal dwelling pustule on the show. He annoys me greatly.

I miss Iron Chef!! Although I'm keeping up with Top chef, thankfully Bravo runs the full eps. I no has cable...

I likes to cook, and use the shows for inspiration on certain foods.

Man, and Ramsay can be such a sweetie-pie, too. (The original British shows he's done are nowhere near as over-the-top) These people are gonna make him have a stroke one of these days.
*nod* Most if not all of the American restaurant owners come across as arrogant pricks most of the time. Had my mom gone with her original dream of starting a restaurant, she would have invited Gordon just because...not trying to capitalize on "Gordon Ramsay ate here!" as some seem to do, but just "we think this is good and we want to keep it from ever becoming a Kitchen Nightmare, what would you change?" We both <3 Gordon.

My biggest beef with her was when she changed a recipe of Ramsay's in the middle of service by adding marscapone without asking.
      ...and she's still alive how?

Man, when I get out of culinary school, my goal is to work in a restaurant that NEVER EVER NEEDS RAMSAY FOR STUPID THINGS. I think your idea is a good one. The restaurants I have problems with are the ones that are absolutely filthy and rank, or everything is tinned, and they're just oblivious to why they have no customers. AND THEN THEY GET A BRAND NEW RESTAURANT REDECORATION FOR FREE, WHAT THE HELL?
Personally, I find cleavage very helpful. In a crime-fighting sense.

Yeah, a few problems (food, staff) I can understand, but places like "Dillon's" on the US show recently? Mom was aghast that the health inspector hadn't shut the place down long before.

I actually don't have a problem with the owners that are just clueless before he comes along. Nine times out of ten they will then take the reins and turn things around. But the ones who seem to just want a makeover, and shoot things all to hell again in short order...I don't get it. If I was in that position I would be grateful for the help and do everything I could to keep it from reverting to the Before picture.

Seems like a number of businesses have closed down within the last few months.

I hated when "J Willy's" closed..... my parents were not even 1/2 mile from the place (they could see it) and said "we'll [as in they not me] go next time".... it closed before "next time" came.

As someone somewhere said once, restaurants he helps closing down in the end isn't shocking: they were in such bad shape when he showed up, it's more of a shock that any are still open -- especially given all the changes required for it to even succeed, and the debts don't just disappear.

Ramsay's a teddy bear normally, I've seen the other shows with him on it.

Seeing him with those kids after they ate in the last episode, you could tell.

People love seeing him rage at the idiots though, and that's part of the fun of the show, since I start yelling at the screen half the time too!

I don't get the people on the show that get all bent out of shape that he's an ass and a jerk to them when they obviously know what the show's about and probably have SEEN it before!

I think Hell's kitchen just edits for the rage fits honestly, because yeah like some have said you watch some of the other shows he's done and he's not always that bad. Especially the british series, because hell some of these people that are cooking have no formal training, they got tossed into the roll. So long as they're willing to listen he doesn't seem to flip out. If I remember correctly one cook at a french resturant ended up getting hired by him after the place went under, and I don't think she had much training, she just listened to instruction.

As far as the places that close. Like someone said the debt doesn't go away, and in some cases the reasons why they were in trouble in the first place don't go away either, and sure while ramsey is there things run smoothly, but once he's not there anything can happen.

Man, when I get out of culinary school,
You're in culinary school? I didn't know that.

Did I miss reading about that?

My husband was a chef. We loved watching Hell's Kitchen but he passed away with about 3 shows left in the last season, and I couldn't bring myself to watch the rest. I did watch the finale, though, just out of curiosity. I didn't see a single person on the last season who even deserved their own restaurant, including the winner, even though she was the only one I rooted for...the rest were all just that bad.

This season, I tried watching it, but I only saw the first 2 shows so far. (Isn't this the second time a contestant hurt herself in the kitchen and bravely stepped up to go home so nobody got eliminated? That's not to mention the guy who got carted out in an ambulance. Sometimes I think these situations are contrived for drama.)

I can't stand Colleen from what I've seen of her.
I do think Gordon is excessively nasty to her.

I can say that, having seen him on Kitchen Nightmares (both the British and American versions) I think his fiery personality and temper are played up for Hell's Kitchen, as well as for the American version of 'Nightmares'.

He actually came across as a really decent, caring guy on the original British series of 'Nightmares'.

I think, for the restaurants that he helped, if they ended up closing, it was because things were too far gone for them. J. Willy's for example, mentions that his approach to cooking and the changes he made were just too much for them to maintain.

For a restaurant that was serving everything from a can or freezer, suddenly being expected to serve fresh from scratch can be a major adjustment. It's certainly a more expensive way of operating, and if the proper management just isn't there in the first place, things can easily go to pot.
Too tired of living and too tired to end it. What a conundrum.

The guy your thinking about who left due to injury never stated the injury but it was thought to be something to do with the kidney stone he passed. This latest one where she messed up her ankle they showed a small clip of her ankle uncovered and I don't think you can get it to swell like it was here is where she talks about leaving.

I have no doubt she hurt her ankle.
I also have no doubt the girl last season burned her hand (or was it a bad cut?) and I have no doubt that other dude got sick, but I think the outcome is done for pure drama.

It did seem contrived that a slip on the floor could cause such damage, but then, having wrenched a ligament in my knee last November simply by stepping wrong and stumbling down a step, I know how easily it happens, and how much it can hurt.

I think the people who were injured and left of their own accord should be invited back.

I would like to see a season of former contestants who didn't get a fair shake, or who were promising but just didn't make it. I am thinking of the two previously mentioned girls who were injured, as well as Julia. I rooted for her, and she did really well, but when she came back to the show for the final episode, she seemed just a tad too bitter. She was supposed to have had her schooling paid for by Chef Ramsay. I would like to see if it made a difference.

I love both sides of Ramsay. I wish I could see the British versions of the show you guys are talking about. In the American version of Nightmares, it's still amazing to watch how much he pours into each place to try to help them succeed. He really seems to care about them.

I'd love to see that girl, Julia was it? The one who got her schooling paid for by him, come back. It was so sweet of him to do that for her.

                                Oh, and, best quote EVAH:

Little kid to Ramsay: Are you the best chef in the world?
                                Ramsay: Yes.
