I sent off some txt's to a group I discuss religion and lots of other stuff with. One of the responses is still making me giggle

Well it's about time a candle, prayer, smoke signal, or whichever got through to someone's deity!

Oh and it turns out it was the ex roommate who did stuff. He was just joking around...the ass.

the email looks to be roughly what I'd expect- they have no real proof of you being able to make the rent payments on a unit, so they want the guarantor in case you can't. First & last month upfront is fairly typical.

I'm glad this turned around for you, Aethian. If you're going to stay in the same unit, I'd have them change the locks, so if old roommate still has keys, he can't come over and mess with your stuff.

It's a load of stress off your mind, though, and that's always good.

This is a completely different one bedroom apartment. Which I hope the ex roommate doesn't learn of where I am. I don't ever want to see his ass again.

I have informed the complex that he has made copies of their "Do Not Duplicate" key. They are charging him for changing the locks when both he and I are fully out.

But 2 weeks...not too much more and I'm free.

And definitely don't let the roomie know where your new place is. But if he does find out, he has no keys, and anything he does as far as trying to get in to mess with you would be trespassing.
