    • Yes, Kiwi, you are
Now, I need to steal some of your motivation, if that's ok. Getting up at 4:30 am for gym is a great idea, but dammit, I haven't been doing it for a week

      • I woke up at 4:30 this morning.

NOT, however, by design. I passed out around 11ish last night watching tv, and popped awake at 4:30. Ugh. And I have a long shift today at The Bar.

The good thing about this, though, is that I WILL be going out on the bike today. The sun just popped up, so will be heading out shortly.

        Yay me. *yawn*

        • YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got back from my first morning ride, and my fourth ride in the last five days.

Three days ago, when I did 15 miles, it took m3e 65 minutes, with 5 mile loop times of 21, 22, and 22 minutes.

Today I did 15 miles in 57 minutes, with times of 18, 20, and 22. And felt much better doing it.

I still have a lot of work to do, but FUCK YEAH!

I think my legs are finally starting to remember how to work again!

          • Well done Jester and buck up Iradney, I dont know many people who would even contemplate getting up that early to workout!

Maybe start one day a week and force yourself up taht day... then every couple of weeks increase taht to 2 weeks.

            oh and by the way

another workout down today... weigh in and measurements day is on sunday but my stretch workout pants were literally falling off my arse today, they are getting so loose. Time for new workout clothes!

                who's in pain yet?

Yeah. I knew the pain would come. I just wasn't expecting it so soon.

I was fine after the ride. Even once I got to work. But the more I went up the stairs, the more it hurt, and the stiffer I got (more due to time than the stairs themselves, mind you). It didn't help that I had to haul cases of beer up said stairs.

Luckily, though, there were not too many cases of beer, AND I was working downstairs, so my trips up the stairs were limited.

Just very, very.....stiff. And not in the good pervy way, either.

                  • DAMN it!

I knew things were going too well with my riding.

So today I got out there bright and early. Did my first five mile loop in a nice 18 minutes. Was looking forward to challenging yesterday's 15 mile time of 57 minutes. Felt good, felt strong, felt great.

Then it happened. At about the 6th mile, my left quad started cramping up. After about a half mile more, I knew it would be bad to keep pushing it, so I shut it down and slowly rode home.

*sigh* I guess I knew there were going to be hiccups along the way as my body adjusted to this new regimen, but I had kind of hoped it would just be soreness and stiffness like yesterday. And I might have even kept pushing it today except for two things: I have to work today, and I have never pulled or torn anything, and I was not about to start today.

                    Tomorrow I try it again.

Better and longer high than any chocolate bar will give you

I just finished up yet another day of excersise, another 550 calories burned off!

My clothes are starting to fit more loosely which is always a good thing! I even woke up with a little start of a line down my tummy!

It was lost night last night which meant it was my junkfood meal of the week, I had 1/4 bag of ms vickies sourcream and sweet chilli chips, a fun sized mars bar and a three pack of ferro roche (or whoever you spell them) yum!

now its back to the straight an narrow again!

I am by no means a health food nut.

However, you DO realize that that kind of night can destroy a whole hell of a lot of work you do the rest of the week?

As I said, I am NOT a health food nut. I am a devoted beer drinker and do have a half gallon of ridiculously busy ice cream in my fridge. And I enjoy the occasional treat from time to time.

But to make a meal, every week, out of pure junk? I just can't see it being productive, to be honest.

Now, I am not trying to be preachy or judgmental. I am just trying to point out what such a weekly ritual can do to all your hard work. If you are good with that....far freakin' out! Go nuts, woman.

Now, where the hell is my next beer........

                        • I've been to the gym the last 3 days, for an hour or a little more each time.

I took today off because I've had a cold all week, and yesterday my cough started to move down into my chest so I thought I shouldn't push it.

It is, however, a helluva lot better than deny deny deny, having a bad day and then going on a week long binge. Which happens more often than not.
In fact, most nutritionists reccomend that you don't say "I cannot have that food", but that you rather say "I don't want it right now, I'll have it on my Treat Night". The whole allure of the forbidden thing.

Also, if you look at it this way - let's say Kiwi is eating 5 small meals a day. That's 35 meals a week. Having ONE Treat Meal counts for 3 % of her meals that week. So she's watching what she eats 97% of the time, and throws all caution to the wind for the other 3%. Which is actually pretty damn good.

                            • when I say I have a treat meal, I dont mean I binge on everything in the world

I usually buy a big bag of chips once a month and divide them into a 4 bags (300-400 cals as the whole bags 1200 cals) then I have a fun sized choco bar (about 60 cals) and maybe something else... but thats usually it.
Ive never been a big junk food person, I have however been a HUGE fast food person and thats why im now huge. I went cold turkey on fast food outlets (I will however make my own versions at home, hamburgers/ fries/ milkshakes) but healthy versions that still satisfy my craving.

the junk food is a pat on the back for a job well done, its limited to 600 cals at the most so its not going to blow a weeks work. But I want to thank you for pointing that out, I understand it comes from a good place Jester. Dont worry though, Im a smart girl and a lazy one to! Im not about to go huffing and puffing to get nowhere!

                              Awesome job Bookstore!
Keep it up guys and gals, hard work now will pay off in the hotter weather!
