  • I've lost 6.6 pounds since I've started eating better and walking (which I didn't do today, but I did some more housework).

My mom still can't see where my weight has gone to (for the record, neither can I ).

I'm trying to add more veggies and fruit to my diet. I've bought some pre-sliced apple slices. Mr. Rum grilled country-style pork ribs, corn on the cob and a variety of veggies (asparagus, squash & onions). I realized I like grilled veggies with olive oil covering them and some Mrs. Dash (salt-free) seasonings on them. I also made mashed potatoes. (Now I want bangers and mashed - wish there was a decent British restaurant around here *le sigh*).

Oh well, I'm going to walk again tomorrow. (I'm getting tired of housework. ).

    • Way to go, Rummy! It's amazing what a few simple changes can bring.

As for not seeing the weight loss...well, that takes time. It isn't until there's a drastic loss (say, 20 lbs or so) that it really starts to show. to date, I've lost 13 lbs since April 6th, when I started my whole lifestyle change. I don't really look any different. But I had to buy a new belt, so I know there's change happening in my waist and hip area.

Stay motivated! You're doing really well for having only recently started!

As for me, I went for an evening walk today, but didn't go as far as I usually do. Only did 34 minutes, 256 calories, max heart rate 154. It was relaxing, but I wasn't pushing as hard as I usually do. I'll make up for it tomorrow. Now, I'm off to cook my dinner. Soy ginger salmon with asian style green beans and japanese cucumber salad. I'm making strawberry shortcakes for dessert.

      • I started a home gym about 8 weeks ago. I have an cross trainer, and aerobic step, some weights and a skipping rope. I also walk our dog everyday for about 30-45mins. So far I have dropped a dress size. I dont *see* it when I look in the mirror, but my clothes tell me otherwise. I also like that I no longer have *fat girl* arms. They are becoming nice and toned. When I started, I could barely do 10 sit ups, I now do 75. I only train 3 times a week and if I miss a day (due to work or stuff) I dont feel guilty, I just get back in the next day.

I try to keep meals small and healthy, but I'm a snacker (always have been) so it is hard sometimes especially when hubby buys me my favourite chocolate

We want to start a family in about a year, so my goal is to be fitter and healthier by then. But I no longer weigh myself because it can be too disheartening to see the numbers not moving week after week. A tape measure is so much more acurate.

        • Mrs. Dash is so delicious. So is Bragg's - it's like calorie free soy sauce.

            • I did 20 minutes both Saturday and Sunday morning 265 and 284 calories respectively and did a 5k walk Saturday night

5 sleeps until the medical, dreading that the closer it gets.

              • A fraction over an hour, four times on the hill, 734 calories, max pulse 163.

Back extensions, got up to about forty a time, but crunches usually doing a minimum of fifty most nights, and every so often I do seventy-five.

Knee support doing good for me, as far as I can tell.

                  • I will admit, Child Rum is not an ideal walking partner. She's obssessed with picking "flowers" aka dandelions for her stuffed Foofa doll. I have to keep marching in place everytime she stops to pick a flower. At least no one will have dandelions this summer!

Mr. Rum has made a bet with me: if I go down to 160 pounds (I'd have to lose 110 pounds), he'll get me a bigger diamond in my engagement ring (right now, it's a .57 princess cut diamond). He might go up to a .75 or even a full carat!

I'm now going to be working more seriously than I was before.

                    • Rummy: It's always good to have motivation! And support, too, and it sounds like Mr. Rum is supporting you in his own way. Send Child Rum my way! She can pick all the weeds that insist on growing in my garden!

I haven't had a chance to work out today. Weather is not permitting any outside work. I'm doing some house cleaning at the moment. So far, I've vacuumed, dusted every surface and rearranged my dining room a bit. It's more open, and has more space to move around, which is always a good thing. I still need to unload and reload the dishwasher and scrub the kitchen counters and stove, and then tend to the dining room/kitchen floors with broom and mop. Between that and the yoga I'm going to do later, I should have my exercise taken care of for today!

                      • I've entered a fun run!!! It's at the end of July (MIDDLE OF WINTER OMG COLD COLD COLD) and it's the 5km, and TTO said if I enter a fun run, he'll do it with me, so he'll have to enter now - MWAHAHAHA!!!

                        • Too wet and rainy to do any walking today. (Though my Dad said I could use my umbrella - which is out in the car so I'd have to get wet to get it).

I've been walking around the house, doing some chores (folding and putting away clothing, stuff like that).

Lupo - I'll send Child Rum down to you for the entire summer! You can have her from June 18 until August 22. How about that? (And for those on the board that believe I'd saddle Lupo with Child Rum I would never do that ... I'd saddle Lupo with both Child Rum and myself as I need a vaca and Texas is as good a place as any. So there! )

Rads - have fun with the fun run.

I hafta get showered and dressed now because I have a meeting with Child Rum's teacher for her IEP for next year. Oi!

Oh yeah, before I foget, I've been using this website: http://www.thedailyplate.com/ to find the nutrition facts on all types of foods (like Taco Bell Chicken Chalupa Supremes and stuff like that ... even coffee and creamers!)

Also, I use this website: to find the nutrition facts on Deli & luncheon meats that I use for sandwiches.

And here's another website dealing with fast food nutrition ... listing the restaurant alphabetically.

                          They've helped me!

                          • Bum. Alternately pissing it down with gusts of wind or just dry and too much wind - have umbrella, but it won't stand up to that. Settled for seventy-five crunches, fifty back extensions, a couple hundred reps on the slim maker (that v-shaped thing that's working the pectorals), and a bit of a go on the dumb bells.

                            Irritated.

                            • I've...I've....lost seven pounds since last week. I have no idea whatsoever how that happened. All I did was cut my calorie intake by like 800, and grazed instead of chowing down ginormous meals.

I haven't gone to the gym once!

I guess...I guess...yay? I just wish I understood how that happened when I didn't even put any thought into it.

                              • I did my weight loss yoga this morning, and walked a lot, by sheer virtue of wandering to bus stops, to stores, etc. Yay exercise.
