I gave his diet book a go a couple of years ago, and I did lose some weight, but I got bored of it, so... But yeah, he's got a good, healthy attitude towards weight loss and developing a healthy lifestyle that I like. I bought DDR a while back, and didn't like it. Might take it to the game store to see how much I can get for a trade.

                • Got up this morning and did 10 minutes of kickboxing, advanced level.

                  <whimper> Ouch.

233 calories burned, though. Take a break and maybe some pilates later today, get the rest of my calorie goal burned and done with for the day. Yippee. Back on the exercise wagon. I'm thiiiiiis close to hitting the lost 30 lbs mark. Hopefully I'll be little bit closer on my weigh in this Friday.

                    • Forty-five minutes, 702 calories, max pulse 163 and an average of 155 for a fairly telling story - I'm getting a steady burn instead of concentrated bursts.

Also got to see the end of the Sinbad triple bill.

                      • I got the new Time Magazine the other day and I was reading this article.

Something to think about...though it seems to discourage exercising, which I think is a bad idea, but there are some good points that might be good to remember when choosing what to eat.

                        • BE, I hate to tell you this, but that article is kind of a crock, written by someone who, in my opinion, is using information that's been known for a while to twist and try to forma causality between to subjects that, despite their relatedness don't necessarily mean that exercising won't help you lose weight. Cloud also seems to completely disregard testimony and scientific studies that overwhelmingly prove the opposite of his claims. (funny how that works, ain't it? )

See Here and Herefor a better explanation, and a well reasoned rebuttal to the article, if you're interested.

If I seemed overly harsh, I do apologize, but that article peeved me off, basically saying "Oh nos! You exercise, you eat more, and will never lose weight! 'Teh' horrors!"

Thanks for the link, though. Lost it before and couldn't find it again.

ETA: And I completely agree with you that the thought of discouraging exercise is a bad idea. Food eating in the article though? Eh. Rehashing what's been noted time and time again, IMO.

I should stop typing now, I think iI'm getting preachy. Sorry.

                          • So I've been absent from this thread for about 2 months and the 4 extra lbs on the scale testify to that. Not feeling well with caffeine one of the few things that would set my head right for 2+ weeks leads to lots of ingestion of the carbonated stuff (my only method of intake). Add in birthday treats and I gave into temptation.

But as of last night, back at the gym. 30 minutes last night and a brutal 30 min tonight. I wasn't in great shape before but I apparently lost most of it during my hiatus. But I'm going back! Less than a year until my sister's wedding - no time to lose ground or slack.

I all of you who have kept going when I got lazy! lol

                            • Weigh in and measuring tomorrow. <crosses fingers> Here's hoping it goes well. Really need to stop slacking on the exercising, but all the manual labor at work I've been doing should count for something, right? Right.....?
