  • Had to go to a specialist store for swimming gear that would fit me. As in specialist online. I've lost some, but not apparently around the arse. Oh yes, watch me reverse and fear. May arrive in the next day or five. Got to the pool yesterday and found out times etc, so that's in the works.

Knee's a bit odd. Was playing up during my desk work (half the day) yesterday, and the day before. Took an ibuprofen as I was in the warehouse for a half working day last night on truck loading, and I felt great! Of course, I was taking it easy on there, as feeling great means not taking care etc. However, this morning when the drug should reasonably have worn off, I feel great still. A touch creaky as always and not quite right, but it's changing from day to day.

Going to be careful about this. I bet it swings back again.

    So, how's everyone else?

        • My knees are still borked. To the point where I'm going to wear braces on both today, and inform my boss that No Heavy Lifting is the rule for this week. Which means I can't really do much stocking.

With my luck we'll end up with 40+ cases of wine and I'll be completely unable to do anything until my coworker gets in this evening.

          ARGH I HATE THIS >.<

          • Been running a fever the last few days, and as such, have really said screw it when it comes to exercising, opting to sleep instead.

In other news, I found a small, compact exercise bike for a insanely reasonable price, including shipping. Since the weather has been bipolar, to say the least here, I went ahead and ordered it. Putting it together should be interesting, but it's small enough to fit in my living room, and can be shuffled off to the side when not in use. Here's hoping that will get me riding a bike more often as I'd like to, even when weather isn't permitting.

            • I finally managed to do one of the pre-programmed workouts on the elliptical today!!!!

I tried one the first week we got one and could only do 4 minutes of it, they are HARD. Today I lasted 19/30 minutes but kept going for the last 11 at a slower pace. I just about died when I finally got off, I had to lay on the floor for 10 minutes so I didn't pass out.

              • I'll say that eating smaller portions has a HELL of a lot to do with weight loss.

Mine is because i'm..urp..pregnant...the morning sickness & nausea caused me to eat very small portions of decently healthy food - often. I've lost about 15 # since I got PG. Part due to Baby eating my fat, and Part to Baby making me sick.

                Ahem.

When I was reallly reallly nauseated, I had to make food worth eating - I had to eat small portions AND get a decent amount of nutrition with it. So spinach salad, with chicken or ham chunks for protein, and a pinch of cheese - you get fiber, iron, protein, calcium, and if you add some vinagrette - decent taste.

Bland Land - was cottage cheese with pepper and chives. LOL. OJ and AJ, half water, and eat pears and apples and bananas.

I'm still at a reduced appetite / smaller portion setting, and I kind of like it.

I like to walk a lot - and that helps too.

Walmart.com, actually. They have uprights and recumbents, some that are listed as being quiet enough, and reviews saying that in apartments with thin walls, you can't even hear them. Can't recall which one I ordered at this exact moment, and too tired and feverish to search, but I know it cost me around $125, total, and that's including tax and shipping, so not too terribly bad.

Methinks I'll wait until the fever goes down before attempting to assemble it, when it gets here...

Tried. Most bikes in my area were older than I am, and in worse shape than I am, too! more of those creative advertisings, that say something along the lines of "Just needs a little clean!" when it's caked with dust, rusted, and looks like it hasn't been used since the Cold War. And the asking price was almost as much as what I paid for a new, in box, I know exactly what it contains, bike.

Trust me, I exhausted CL and freecycle the last several months and got nothing before finally going to Wally World. Thanks though.

                        • As a colleague of mine said, "If you want an exercise bike at a decent price, look on Ebay under 'clothes hangers'."

Interesting idea about the ball. There would be no complaints about it - just some baffled looks from people who already know me for eccentric. That alone makes it pretty tempting.

                            • Got my exercise bike shipped and put together yesterday, tried it out briefly, just to make sure I put everything in the correct place.

Tonight was the first workout. Like I said, it's a pretty basic bike. Bit louder than I thought it'd be, but it just sounds like my airconditioning fan, truth be told. The monitor has a distance calculator, though, and that helped a lot because when I figured it was time to call it quits, I saw I only had a bit more to go before I hit the 5 mile mark, and ended up doing 5.25 miles.

Not sure I'm 100% sold on the calorie calculator. According to the bike, I burned 473, but according to my HRM, I burned 445. Rather err on the side of caution, I think, and go with the lower number, and the device that has my stats inputted for a more accurate measure. Either way, not bad for a half hour's work.

                              • I'm now down to about 197. I'm making progress, slowly but steadily, just by being more careful about what and how much I eat. I can't wait to see how things go once I actually have the funds to be able to join a gym and start working out regularly.
