      UPDATE!!!

Found out today that the 2 guys who were fighting are most definitely banned.

Then there is a chick being banned also from the night of the fight.

She was friends with one of the fighters. Instead of calling the cops or somehow trying to stop the fight, she decided to go to her car, open her trunk, pull out an ax handle so her friend can do more damage to the guy he was fighting.

Yeah, the owner of the store was livid. Good luck coming back!

An axe handle?! How old were these kids again?

Shouldn't be too surprised I suppose after witnessing what I did (10-year-olds swearing like dockworkers--had I had any clout there those kids would have been instantly banned--W40K and the adult MtG players swearing is one thing, little kids, yikes). Where I worked is pretty much the only gaming-specific store around, so if you're banned you're SOL..maybe that's why the owner never wanted to ban anyone as he'd lose their captive income).

Props to the owner for ID'ing and banning the jerks.

Yeah, for a while, the owner was reluctant about banning people as we're the only Gaming Store in our town. (Our sister store is in Chantilly about 30-45 minutes away) and then there is a smaller one in Fredericksburg (about 1 hour away). We're a pretty popular hangout.

The people who play Yu Gi Oh! are anywhere between 12 and 20 years old. There are a few older (and a few younger) players, but that's the typical age range.

I was surprised to hear about ax handle chica. I didn't think anyone could be that stupid, but I was proven wrong.

That is when banning is most effective. The mere threat of such should cause spines to freeze with fear from the posibility of such a thing coming to pass.

That's what one would think, you know? I don't know. I just don't know. When did cards, little pieces of paper, become so popular and worth so much? Plus, Gaming Stores are just closing up one after the other. So if we don't have a product (book, game, comic, etc.), I tell the person that we can either #1. order it for them or #2. I direct them to the comic shop up the road a little from us, or the comic shop in a town 30 minutes from us, or I recommend one gaming store in Maryland or even the one in Fredericksburg. People look at me like I have 2 heads, 'cos I'm recommending them to another store, I just tell them we're all like brothers, and we need to support each other. They still don't get it.

If the Black Lotus is going around $350 and we had it, it'd be in one of the glass cases with the rest of the special CCG stuff.

I just don't understand spending so much for a card.
There's an inventory entry at my former place of employment for a MtG single with price: $250.00. Not sure what that could be (I'd be assuming it was an error, as if we carried cards that pricey the store would need much more security than it has).

I've seen D&D minis for upwards of $100 (most of the drow figures are a bit costly...sucks for me who wants to put together a drow warband).

Idrinkarum, MiniMonFa sounds like a cool game. Gaming is a MASSIVE thing in my circle of friends (mostly board games and pen and paper RPGS that's NOT D&D like IronClaw, yay!). If you would suggest it as a good game, I'll pick up a box and see how it goes at the next game party.

                  -EQ

Squeee, IC player! I started running demo games at cons I was jonesing so badly for a game. I'll be running 3 Jadeclaw games at a local anime con over Memorial Day weekend. Wheee!
aka WTH was I thinking? I still need to write the adventures & pregens

                  *ahem*
Back on topic; I have seen some crazy CCG players. Some are sane, but many are not. My BF worked in the local game shop during college and when the more addicted players came in, they'd be tapping their inner elbows with a number of fingers. # of fingers = how many packs they wanted to buy. Yep, just like a heroin addict tapping the inner elbow vein for his fix.

He always refused to pay attention. If they wanted packs they could actually speak aloud and tell him what they wanted.

Though I'm thinking of buying Munchkin Cthullhu, but we don't have anybody to play with besides ourselves (my hubs & me for a 2 person card game - not for anything else! Get ya'll's minds outta the gutter! ).
                    I love that game!

My friends hate playing with me though

Might have something to do with my "Let me help you fight that monster, give me 2 of the 4 cards, and I won't make it so you can't flee, have to fight it alone, and make it 20 levels larger" strategy. >:3

I had a sliver deck. Sliver queen was fun
I'd not mind selling off all my cards. I don't think I have anything before 4th, or after tempest, though. And I don't think anywhere would take all of them. I've got some good ones buried there there though. Even though some of my better ones went "missing." Including at least one Serra Angel.
                    Ah, infinite slivers :P

A friend spent a lot of money to make one.

Friend 1: Has the sliver deck
Friend 2: White green life gain stall deck

F1: Hah! Now I have Ashnods altar (SP?), the Queen, and (Insert card making creature spells cheaper, don't remember the name, possible two, it may have been 3 mana for her ability, been a few years). I sac one sliver, get 2 mana with my altar, use it too make 2 with my queen slivers, and sac them!
F2: Okay, how many slivers do you have?
                    F1: Infinite
                    F2: Seriously?
F1: Next turn you're so dead.
F2: Okay, first I destroy you're altar. Now you can't sac for mana.
F1: Who cares, I still have infinite slivers.
F2: Then I play this, it gives me 2 life for every creature of the type I choose that you have in play. So, I have infinite life, by choosing slivers.
                    F1:...
                    F1: What?
                    F2: I can't die. Whee.
F1: Well, I attack you with my infinite slivers.
F2: Infinity minus infinity is still infinity.

From then on he'd say I million trillion billion. Or something equally high XD

I might just have to start hanging out at the Gaming Store during the times my daughter is at school & I can play games with people. Actually, I might just start doing that 'cos you know ... I do need to meet new friends and stuff. And come September, daughter will be going to kindergarten all day. Woohoo! Ahem ... well, it's just something to look forward to.

I'm a sad person, huh? Getting excited about leaving the house to play games at the gaming store?

Another Ironclaw player/GM here! I'd ask where you were running it, but I already have a small RPG convention on memorial day that I'm running a Mekton game for.

Heehee! My friends also hate/love playing with me, because I'm an equipment whore. Its not unusual for me to end a munchkin game with multiple arms, several cheat cards, and an effective level in the 40s (over 100 in an epic game!). Playing at Origins one year, I actually had officials in the Steve Jackson Games room come over, because they'd never seen anyone with a single one-handed Item that had a +80 bonus. (12-player Blender game, the weapon in Munchkin Fu that grows as you kill monsters, its duplicate, duct taped together, and that card that lets you use two handed items in one hand, and the one item that forces a player to let you help in combat. And I had three other hands full of weapons at the time )

The randomization of CCG boosters makes them great profits for game stores. The same goes for D&D Miniatures, Dreamblade boxes, Axis and Allies boxes, and other prepainted collectable miniature games. You don't know what you're going to get, so you won't think twice about dropping more money for another booster or two incase that lucky super rare piece/card you want is in there. It's super profit and often a nice impulse purchase.

                          Me?

I play Hordes and Warmachine. :>

We've just come back from the British Student Nationals of RPing and Wargaming. VAGUE (Manchester) won, woot!! And we ended up with a grand total of 2 points!!! ><

YGO - I mean what? That's a random thing based off some even more random japanese fad...meh it'll be over within a decade.

M:tG - I have a white Planeswalker + red Akroma. I would have won the noobie section of our last tournament had someone not bailed halfway through to see to his fuckbuddy and screwed up the rules. Although I play Magic more for the collecting...

And RPs - d10/12 homebrew, Asylum, Dark Heresy, Vanishing Point - oh and LARPing!!
