I've never understood people who wolf their food down.
I honestly can't help it. I've had people ask me "Do you think people are going to TAKE IT AWAY??"

    On some level. YES!!

I was in Boot camp, and we'd done the Obsticle course twice in one day, and a 5 mile run as punishment for being too slow on said second Obs course. We had missed lunch because .. well.. the DI SAID SO!! Needless to say I was a BIT peckish, as was the rest of the Platoon. In Boot camp, they give recruits temporay rank to teach us responsibility. The person who holds the guidon or Platoon's flag is the highest ranking recruit. If he gets up, that means the meal is over and everyone is to get up and form outside. QUICKLY!

Our Guide was a stick-thin desk jockey with Military school dropout written alll over him. He got "promoted" the 3rd day in. Everyone hated him because he was not only snobbish and acted like his s*** didn't stink.. he was a sickly P-I-T-A!!

Moron-boy didn't LIKE the run. It upset his tummy. He didn't FEEL like eating. He FORGOT that when HE got up, we ALL did. The idiot had gotten three steps towards the door when the DI started screaming GET UP GEDDUPNOW!!! I had just sat down and hadn't even SIPPED a drink yet.

The SOB DI looked me DEAD IN THE EYES and said "Yeah.. you even SNIFF it, NY boy, and I will run yer ass until DAYBREAK!!"

I have never been so hungry in my LIFE!

To this day, if I am the LEAST bit hungry, I have to stop myself from cleaning my plate at Mach 5!

Whenever I go to Arby's I order the 5 for $6.95 (yeah that makes no sense, it used to be $5.95) and I get 3 sandwiches, a curly fry, and a drink. I save two of the sandwiches for later.

Last Saturday, I got 2 footlong subs at Subway. They probably thought I was buying for two, but it was for supper for 2 nights in a row.

I stopped eating burgers years ago. I eat a salad every day at lunch along with a small piece of chicken breast & a bottle of water. For my salad I have no dressing of any kind. Just a few olives, lettuce & carrots.
Nowadays IF I even detect the odor of burgers it makes me feel queasy.

I've never been to a Sonic, how would those burgers compare to a McD's sandwhich?
They are pretty much the same cost of a MCD burger except about double the portion.

(I used to live in Missouri-they grew like mushrooms down there, along with steak 'n shake-Madison had one-it closed )
Honestly.... the image of that in my head made me go "AWESOME!"..... and then I remembered I am terribly strange.-Red dazes

Every time I was pregnant I would snarf down my food, because I was always hungry! I never gained more than I should have though and even had doctors tell me I had to gain more, which would have been impossible unless I ate in my sleep.

However, I never wolfed down 6 hamburgers in my life!

The guy I'm seeing right now is from Madison. Note to self: Get a hold of Blaquekat before our next road trip.

                IHOP here we come!

This closest Sonic to Chicagoland is just outside of St. Louis. I lovely drive, don't you know?
Looking at their website, there are Sonics in Springfield, Pekin, Peoria and Champaign.

At least that makes sense as to why we're getting commericals for Sonic in the Peoria-Bloomington market.

BlaqueKatt - Steak N Shake is awesome. We have four in town here. :-p

The places that I keep seeing on television that tempt my wife and I are Jack In the Box, Dave and Busters (damn you Bret Michaels*) and Red Robin. The closest any of those locations to us is Litchfield (about 2 hours), Chicago (again 2 hours) or Addison (2.5 hours).

*- Yes, my wife and I watch Rock of Love II sometmes.

There's one I sometimes go to in Middletown, OH. That's just a lovely jaunt down I-75.

I also hear they may be putting one in the Dayton area, which would be much closer to me, therefor better.

Well, see, way back when, the deal at Arby's was 5 for $5 ($4.95 + tax). But that was long, long ago. Back in the '80s, I believe.

Mmmm.... just finished 2 half footlongs from Subway. No, I don't mean a footlong or 2 6-inchers, I mean 2 half footlongs. Nekojin ate the other halves of each footlong. So tasty.

I'm quite fond of Jack in the Box. I think they're far superior to McD's in just about every conceivable way. But best of all is that the burgers don't make me queasy half an hour later.

I've been to a Red Robin out thisaway, and I was no impressed. It was just another yuppy-ish casual dining experience, a la TGI Friday's, which I didn't care for, either. But both of them beat the socks off the nasty overspiced experience that was Applebee's. I wouldn't eat there again for free (and the first time was free, at that).

I've been considering writing a letter to the local television station about airing Sonic and IHOP commercials when neither of them are anywhere near here. The nearest IHOP is in Madison....I've never seen a Sonic in my life.
                        Quoth Jack7957 View Post
You probably see the commercials because Sonic and/or IHOP bought a national broadcast package for their commercials.
Jack got it in one. National chains buy on national networks, which own your local stations (or close enough to owning them, as they usually at least have to buy programming from the nationals), and there are slots set aside for national campaigns, regional, and local ads. These spots sell months or more in advance, and national ads usually get the prime placement as they're supposed to be seen by a certain number of viewers according to the contract. The point of showing them in areas where there aren't any locations is two-fold. One, you travel out of area, you might find one, be curious, and stop in. Two, you don't get to pick what areas get the commercial. You're usually only guaranteed network (because you signed a contract with them), and number of viewers. Thus ends your advertising lesson for today

As for the woman in the OP, eating 6 burgers that quickly is really gross. I could probably eat that many, but over the course of an hour or two, not a few minutes. Ick.

We'll have two over in South Bend/Mishawaka soon. It's a little bit closer.

Thread Title reminded me of my own little incident at Sonic's.

Did you know, that for a small price, Sonic's will add Chili and Cheese to anything?

Normally, this means turning a Coney into a Chili Cheese Coney, or a Cheeseburger into a Chili Cheeseburger, or Fries into Chili Cheese Fries. All of which are delicious.

But if you order a Chili Cheese Shake, they'll give you a Chili Cheese Shake.

I got hooked on Sonic (not Phonics) years ago when I used to have to go to central Kansas to visit my in-laws. Wasn't much else to do there besides go to Sonic.

They recently opened up one about 20 miles from me, in Hamilton, OH which is a bit north of Cincinnati, yet south of the one in Middletown that Geek references.

Anyway, I saw the commercial for the coffee drink with real espresso in it and decided I'd drive out there. So I did. Unfortunately, the city of Hamilton had a water-main break somewhere in the city and had a 'water-advisory'. No coffee drink for me.
