A good steak CAN be improved with sauce: sauce that's made out of the steak itself!
If you leave the fond (brown bits) in the pan, de-glaze it with a little wine, or, french-style, a little heavy cream (mmmmm)! Let the wine reduce; but don't let the cream boil. This is now a perfect compliment to a perfect steak.
You can also use a little stock, or beer for the liquid.
