The getting back in shape thread

  • Walked about a mile and a half today.. Not much, I know, but I also had two interviews. Did some walking in place while I was waiting for busses, the way they taught us in marching band. I even got some running in playing frogger across a busy street with no cross walks >.<

    I am going to walk more tomorrow, and I plan to go to the Navy Guard recruiter's office. They won't take me now, because of my weight, but they might be willing to help me with a weight plan.

    • Yesterday, I didn't technically workout, but in the course of the day, I walked over 3.5 miles just by going to work, and hanging out with EQ for a few hours.

      This morning, I did my 20 minutes of the 30 Day Shred DVD again. Even though I'm cranky and crampy, I pushed through and did it. Owwie.

      Off to the shower.

      • Did my run in 14:40 today, plus my resistance workout.

        I've been wearing my heart rate monitor higher up and its accuracy has much improved.
        A PSA, if I may, as well as another.

        • Since I have had difficulty convincing myself to get out and run, I have decided to enter a couple of local events coming up.

          There's a 15k run in 3 weeks, and a 21k half marathon in 6 weeks.

          So now I need to go running a lot more, to train!

            I got in a 5k training run tonight. Off to a good start. Switching the 15k for a more scenic 10k the day before.

              • Was going to hit the hill this afternoon - was even looking forward to it. Left knee (the dodgy one) has decided to complain, so not risking it.

                    did a 45 minute workout tonight. warmed up, did some pilates, then some cardio combined with weights, then some stretching.

                    All warm and tingly in the good way. But still sweaty and stinky...in the...not quite as good way?

                    And now I've got to go make dinner. Garden burger and zucchini fries. Om nom nom!

                        • Six times, though due to a chavlet infestation I missed a couple hundred yards round trip of flat at the top each time. One hour twenty-four minutes, 1045 calories, and max pulse of 166.

                          Tomorrow morning I will know pain.

                          • Today and tomorrow I'm not going to the gym, for Sunday I up my run to 5k. It will also be my week of lower weight/higher reps. This is going to be interesting.

                            The same kind of interesting as "I didn't know that can hurt..."

                            • I forgot to mention - there's cash on the line now.

                              Three of us at work are having a sort of biggest loser challenge. Two quid each week into a pot and we had our first weighing this week. We're going to keep weighing each Friday amd the one who lost the most over the entire month gets the pot on the last Friday of every month.

                              Added drama! There's a reason there was a sixth hit of the hill tonight.

                              • Suggestion Raps, if it's not already the rule - make it percentage of bodyweight. Actual poundage of fat loss is not always reflective of success or sticking with the goals.
