Studies show the best way to exercise is at 60-80% of your max HR. For you that's about 108 to 144 or so. Sounds like you're like me where that would be a mild walk - anything approaching actual "exercise" and it's up over 160.
I just ignore the HR zones advice. I've set my HRM to my own zone, which is not calculated in the least, it's simply my average working out range - what I actually do, not what I strive for because some person with a book and a calculator thinks I should.
For fat loss and general health, you can't get around simply working out as hard as you can manage for 30-45m at least. More isn't always better, but it's not harmful either provided you're sufficiently fuelling your body for that workout as well.
The key to weight loss is a calorie deficit - a small one. Create a big calorie deficit and your body rebels and packs on the weight until you totally starve yourself and lose muscle and organ tissues as well as fat.
Yuk. Enough science.
It's TOO COLD to exercise! I know that's an excuse, but it's one I leaned on last night. I need to get out running but I don't think it's safe for a woman alone at night to be running the streets or parks. I could go down to the gym ... I should have gone down to the gym.
Did 25 minutes of pilates, followed by some strength exercises, followed by some stretches.
Feel good. And tired.
almost didn't do anything today because my back was sore when I woke up this morning. I think I slept on it wrong. Add to that I spent all day doing data entry at work, hunched over the textbook counter. And bossman brought in donuts, and I gave into temptation, so I figured I needed to get some exercise in! But the pilates and stretching really helped, so I'm glad I did it.
Did 1 hr 45 mins at the gym (according to the machines, 1100 cals burned....not sure how accurate they are..hmm) but I think I did well
Found this rather neat app for my iPod, called "Lose it!" Gives you a daily cal requirment and lets you log your food and excerise. Neat....but rather addicting.
And now....I am hungry!!!! hahhaa.
Gonna weight myself thrus.....ekkk
Keep doing well everyone!

One hour 19 minutes, five times, 930 calories (would have gone for six times, but I have a day in the warehouse and two shots back to back would have risked leaving me incapacitated for work and stuff). Max heart rate 163.
Was bad today.....I ate too much and skipped the gym...doh. Wel...I'll be good tomorrow!

Yesterday, however, 5.5k run. Bit disapointed to find it was only 5.5k on mapmyrun, as it was over 40 minutes. I should be faster than that. I blame it being cold (and I did an hour circuit class earlier same day).
Good job I got moved to the warehouse today. Succumbed to a breakfast sub due to rumbling stomach while out shopping. It had yummy, yummy cheese on it. After the exertion for the last two days, I'm not hitting the hill - legs are giving warning signs. Instead, I did fifty situps and something I don't know the name of - I bought a V-shaped thing with a spring at the joint, and you just press it in. Not a huge amount of resistance for me, but a hundred reps starts to hurt. Been doing that as well as the hill etc.
Weight for last two mornings was 17st 7lb, which is mostly down to dehydration. I'm aiming for a steady 17st 9lb for this week, which will be a full stone (14lb) lost since returning from holiday about nine or ten weeks back.
