I don't know how much help this was, but the whole healthy eating thing is kinda new to me (I'm surprised Taco Bell hasn't called to see if I'm still alive ).
Thanks, Cougar. And it's not that Taco Bell doesn't care, they're just, you know, busy.

I've determined that I'm up against a helluva lot more than can be changed with a freezer full of low-cal entrees. I don't want to get into depression-inducing details here, but suffice it to say that I'm going to start concentrating on what goes into my body and start letting him sort himself out.

Meanwhile, I keep plugging away. Workouts 3-4 evenings a week. Big salads for lunch, small dinners (which is easy since exercise pretty much demolishes my appetite). Just ordered the dress for my wedding, so hopefully it will need to be altered in a negative direction before November. *crosses fingers*

That's actually one of the things that lead me to start working out. My brother dropped a bunch of weight, my dad started dropping weight . . . I was tired of being the fat one in the family.

Sweet link. Definitely better mapping out my bike route to class better than mapsonus.com

          Thanks for the link

I finally joined the gym yesterday. I went there a couple of years ago when I was working next door. It is only 37.00 a month for just me. I didn't take on the tanning package this time. I just want to get into shape.

I was going to go this morning with Tyrese, but he came down with something last night and is running a fever of 103.
and he won't get out of bed, he's been laying around on the couch all morning. . He has had a runny nose for the past couple of day. I knew that something was up when it started running green. I was hoping that it was just a cold, but I am worried about an ear infection. None of my kids ever showed the typical symptoms of an ear infection. This would be the first time that he has been sick since he was born, since he has never stepped foot inside of a daycare.

I guess I will just have to postpone the gym until he is better. I wouldn't want to put the other kids there at the daycare center (at the gym) in danger of getting sick.

Whoo, okay. I didn't post here in a while, so may as well update on the best news of the day.

I re-joined the gym. Mom paid me a 3-year cheap membership at the local club so I figured what the hey and went for a full-body workout today. No personal trainer. Did the old routine: Cardio 10 mins (120 cals gone) and toning exercise, 2 sets of 15 reps each.

And weighed myself for the first time in weeks....

...and discovered I lost 12 more lbs. Which explains how I'm able to get into a size 12 shirt and my size 16 stuff is LOOSE on me.

In other news, work starts in 2 hours. :P

I finally got to the gym this afternoon. I did about 45 min on the treadmill at a 4% incline going about 3.8mph. I'll move up to running in about a week. I also did the weight afterwards. I know I'm going to be sore in about 2 days, I can already feel it. I'm weighing in at about 176 now. I started at 172 but it is the muscle that I am gaining. I have to forse myself to stay off of the scale, if not I will be on it every morning. I know that I won't see any results on the scale this fast but I am impatient. But good things come to those who wait. But patience is not one of my virtues.

I've been running since I was 13, did cross-country and track. I still run because it's a habit. I used to do martial arts in my spare time and combine that with running and you get a Bruce Lee duplicate. Anyway, college just started and I have yet to fall victim to the infamous Freshman 15. I plan on running a half-marathon next month so I need to keep the running up also. Going longer distances is nice, makes it easier to fall asleep.

Well, I went back to the gym today even though I am as sore as hell. I thought that I could work the soreness out, but I think that I just made it worse. I stepped my running up some today. I walked for 30 min and ran for 15. I can't run very fast right now, only 6.0mph, but I am getting better. I have to meet Reggie Monday morning to see where I stand right now and to find how to use there new machines. I don't want to pull a muscle by using one wrong. Especially to where I can't run anymore. To take my ability to run is like removing my lungs, I just couldn't exist anymore.

Well I guess I can finally post in this thread. After a little less than two weeks of not drinking soda or eating anything with sugar I managed to drop five pounds. That suprised the hell out of me, I didn't think it would make that much of an impact since I work out quite a bit.

It was actually looking at my coworkers that encouraged me to change my diet. I'm terrified of the thought of being anything like them. After hearing some of them gasp and wheeze after walking from the parking lot to the office was kinda scary.

I have been eating turkey sandwiches for the past month and have lost around 8 pounds just from doing that. I carry my lunch to work everyday and lunch meat is not to expensive and it lasts a while I also have been drinking lots of water too.

I know what you mean Ringtail. A lot of the office workers at the arena are like that. Seeing them do that makes me realize why I run in the first place. A lot of the basketball fans are like that too. Plus lifiting cones and signs can whip anyone into shape.
