I bet the poor gym did too
    /gets coat...
    ...Yeah.... you better run.

No gym today; I was sleeping. But I'll be hitting it Thursday and Friday. So I technically only missed.... one day.... this week. Even better if I can make up for it on Sunday since it's my day off (and the gym opens at noon on Sundays).

    • "Missing" one day or having a rest day is good....I've always heard that is when your body actually starts to make muscle. Tues was my rest day, today will be gym, and Fri wil rest. Sat wil be a hike, and Sun a rest.

Well, I think I am finally happy with my weight!!! Now, since part of my resolutions was to be a more dedicated hiker...it's time to build muscle SO, if there is some gain, and it muscle.....bring in on!! Cat's heading to the mountains!!

(sorry...its early and I am cravin' the White Mountains....really have to move to New Hampshire)

        • Hired a personal trainer. Got up at sparrow crack yesterday for our first session - FIVE AM!!!
He's a slave driver, and I hurt where I didn't know muscles should be - but it's a good hurt (I must just keep telling myself that!).
Now that it's getting to winter here, it's cold and dark outside in the mornings, and it's getting harder and harder to get up before work to walk the pooch and go to gym.

            • So much for my "rest" day...I did a 1 lunch walk (about 150 cals) and a 1.5 hour hike (400 cals)

Just means I can have a bigger dinner!

                • Yeah, I need arm work as well...

I have dumbells, and what I do is bicep curls (whilst sitting, I try to do 25 lifts 2x each arm)

Triceps are what I need most work on....still while sitting, I lift above my head....again I try to do 25 lift 2x each arm, but that really hurts!

Anyone who knows how to do them better, please share!!!

                    • Crawling back onto the wagon...

Did level 1 of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. wowsers been a while since I did that. 20 minute workout plus 10 minutes of stretching on my own (Her stretching segment after is too short IMO)

                      30 minutes, 364 calories.

                      Staggering off to shower now...

                      • I did a 2hr 15 min easy hike before family obligation day dinner, and did a 2 hour oen afterward. Killed over 1000cals

Feelin a wee bit sore, so I might not do any exercise today (def no gym) though the weather might call to me and I may do a lunch walk and/or short hike after work...

                        • well, i ate some lovely cookies, so I decided to do some workout, lol

Played Wii fit: 30 mins of bowling and 1 hr of Free Step (on fasted settings, and with weights)

NO clue how much I really burned, but I think it was around 200 cals?

                          • Dragged myself out of bed early again today, and did the same thing as yesterday, 20 minute level 1 workout on 30 Day Shred DVD, followed by 10 minutes of stretching. 375 cals burned.

And off I go to shower and get dressed, etc, etc..

                            • Wow I'm totally amazed at myself today!

Burned about 516 cals with my cardio workout, did 3 sets of both leg & arm reps then swam about in the pool for 45 mins.

I just worked out how many cals I burned swimming & it was apparently another 500

So, I'm very very very pleased with myself today & bought some cheese (cheddar with diablo chili) to celebrate.... but I'm not having any til tomorrow after slimming class

How about a set of those sand weights that goes around your ankles? Just lift your legs slowly about 10-20 times and build up from there.

                                Yoga is nice too.
