Hm...maybe ship the US cards in bulk to another CS'er to send those out. No, I have no idea what that would run.

I think this is technically illegal to send into some countries, but I dunno about policy where you live. You could always look into it.

FWIW, last year's list had 53 addresses. Of them 7 were outside the United States (3 Canadian, 3 UK, 1 RSA).
US postage for the first ounce (ample for a greeting card) is
$0.44 (domestic)
$0.75 (Canada)
$0.98 (Rest of the world)
Doing the math, postage comes to $25.97. Buy the cards in bulk-I've seen some for as little as a dime each.
Around Thanksgiving is a good time for outside the US, Pearl Harbor Day for within the US (that's when I ususally ship gifts to my far-flung family).

I've taken the plunge an signed up....thankfully I have a post office nearby to help me figure out the international mail I haven't sent a letter overseas in years.

Yup. I just sort all my cards by country, take the internationals to the PO, they give me the right stamps, I slap 'em on, and then I get a couple books of regular holiday stamps for the US cards.

After signups/opt-out are over, JM sends the list out via email. It will be formatted to print on labels. Instructions were included last year; I assume the will be again.

Question: postcards-yay or nay? I know it's not exactly a Christmas card per se, but I was just wondering if that's allowed. I'm still planning on using postcards with my hometown on them tho It's not any cheaper than sending Christmas cards at Australia Post, but just curious anyways.

Postcards are fine. And cheaper. Especially since you'll be sending most of them international. I always feel a little bad because it's more expensive for the non-US people, since most of us are here.

Postcards are fine. And cheaper. Especially since you'll be sending most of them international. I always feel a little bad because it's more expensive for the non-US people, since most of us are here.

The cost for a postcard and a Christmas card are identical to send. To BUY however, you're right, postcards are cheaper. The shop I'm thinking of sells some for 50c and some for 75c each. I'm gonna try and get different ones so nobody gets the same. They'll also come in 2-3 styles: one's going to be shots of my hometown, one's going to be some Aboriginal art if I can dig it up and the rest might be fauna and flora of SA.
