Thanks for all that info btw...so does the printer label thing show up after it's closed to signups or ??Quoth taxguykarl View PostFWIW, last year's list had 53 addresses. Of them 7 were outside the United States (3 Canadian, 3 UK, 1 RSA).
US postage for the first ounce (ample for a greeting card) is
$0.44 (domestic)
$0.75 (Canada)
$0.98 (Rest of the world)
Doing the math, postage comes to $25.97. Buy the cards in bulk-I've seen some for as little as a dime each.
Around Thanksgiving is a good time for outside the US, Pearl Harbor Day for within the US (that's when I ususally ship gifts to my far-flung family).https://www.youtube.com/user/HedgeTV

Oh? Whose?Quoth AdminAssistant View PostAs much as I'd like to, I have to sit out this year. I's saving up for a weddin'.

Yup. I just sort all my cards by country, take the internationals to the PO, they give me the right stamps, I slap 'em on, and then I get a couple books of regular holiday stamps for the US cards.Quoth telecom_goddess View PostI've taken the plunge an signed up....thankfully I have a post office nearby to help me figure out the international mail
I haven't sent a letter overseas in years.
Should be fun....
After signups/opt-out are over, JM sends the list out via email. It will be formatted to print on labels. Instructions were included last year; I assume the will be again.Quoth telecom_goddess View PostThanks for all that info btw...so does the printer label thing show up after it's closed to signups or ??I don't go in for ancient wisdom

Question: postcards-yay or nay? I know it's not exactly a Christmas card per se, but I was just wondering if that's allowed. I'm still planning on using postcards with my hometown on them tho
It's not any cheaper than sending Christmas cards at Australia Post, but just curious anyways.

Postcards are fine. And cheaper. Especially since you'll be sending most of them international. I always feel a little bad because it's more expensive for the non-US people, since most of us are here.Quoth fireheart17 View PostQuestion: postcards-yay or nay?I don't go in for ancient wisdom

The cost for a postcard and a Christmas card are identical to send. To BUY however, you're right, postcards are cheaper. The shop I'm thinking of sells some for 50c and some for 75c each. I'm gonna try and get different ones so nobody gets the same. They'll also come in 2-3 styles: one's going to be shots of my hometown, one's going to be some Aboriginal art if I can dig it up and the rest might be fauna and flora of SA.Quoth BookstoreEscapee View PostPostcards are fine. Thanks...I've been on a 3 minute earlier train lately due to a change in bus drivers, and she tends to run earlier than the last guy we had. But I'm sure I will run into sooner or later!Quoth Sonoma View PostI did the card exchange last year, and it was a lot of fun. Ok here is a stupid question. Do we sign our real names or our screen names?
And I think I have a design for the christmas cards. Now just need to find my supplies for card making. *Goes off to have a talk with the gnomes that have taken over the house*Coffee should be strong, black and chewy! It should strip paint and frighten small children.

First the only stupid questions are the ones that were not raised in a timely manner (i.e. before the fact--after the fact questions are abyssmally stupidQuoth Elspeth View PostOk here is a stupid question. Do we sign our real names or our screen names?
). The answer would be both names.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!
