  • Did the long walk at the park, and even ran a bit of it. Don't know the distance, but it takes about 40-45 minutes.

Looks like this will be the only decent day for doing anything outside...it's supposed to rain the next couple days.

      • I have gained about 3 pounds, and look a bit 'bigger' (maybe just in my mind)

My clothes still fit the same.....mayhaps I gained muscle??

Anyway, did a 4 hours hike up Mt Everett in Mass last weekend, 1300 cals, I think?

Walked some on Sunday, yesterday did a lunch walk and a mini hike. Today is all icky out so I'll either hit the gym or play Wii

        • Gym & swim yesterday,... which included a 30 min session on the elliptical (phew!), Same again today, but cut the workout down a bit as I had to get to audiology.
Tomorrow will be a quick workout before slimming group... then can see what the damage is this week

Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today.

          • Walked in to work today for the first time since breaking my leg. Took 30 minutes instead of the usual 25. Only an extra kilometre or so over taking the bus, but I couldn't do it before getting the cane. My knees have been complaining at me again because the muscles atrophied so much, so I took the elevator. Very little pain .

            • Does anyone mind if I join in? I just started running about 2 weeks ago.

We have a park that actually measures your distance and tells you how far you are with little signs. The entire track is 4,200 meters long (I guess that's 4 kilometers, 200 meters? I really don't know metric)

Walked that pentagonito, as its called. Ran a little bit through it.

Bought new running shoes!! Very excited to try them tonight.

              • I think I am gonna weight myself tomorrow morn, before the trip.....I will (try) to go the whole trip w/o counting cals, and hopefully get the all the planned hikes in. When we get back, I'll see if there is any change

                • Hit the bike yesterday morning. 35 minutes, somewhere over 500 calories. Started to pay the price in the knees, though :/

                  • Did first stage of knee exercises to make sure I don't overdo them again.

Walked in to work again (with the cane), but had to take the stairs at this end because the elevator wasn't working properly. No pain so far in either the foot or the knees.

                    • Walked in again, finally without the cane. Back down to 25 minutes. Annoyingly, this is going to be significantly fewer calories burned. Hopefully the pushups last night help with that.

                      • Went to the gym yesterday. 30 minutes on the elliptical, burning anywhere from 260 (what machine said) to 460 (what internet said) calories.

                        • Back to the bike after a knee-related absence. Thirty minutes, 483 calories. Started to eat less once more. *sigh*

Been off the bike for a couple of weeks. Ow.

                          • I didn't realize how out of shape (and forgetful) I am until we moved into a two-story townhouse. It isn't like one flight of stairs phases me but after going up and down trying to find stuff (a lot of which is still in boxes) or getting ready for work I can really feel it. I used to have such strong legs it makes me sad, the still look rather nice and I can run about as well as I used to (which isn't to say that I was ever more than an average runner at best) but stairs just really take it out of me.

For the first time in my life I think I'm going to have to figure out a solo exercise regime, before I just always had sports

                            • Gained about 4 pounds after the trip Thought I was eating okay and thought the hiking up 5 mountains was burning it off!

Oh well, 4 pounds is easy to lose, I just wanna wear my awesome thin jeans!

Will rest this week, and back to working out next week. We're going back to NH in Oct, and I can't slack

                              • Cat, have you tried on your thin jeans? Frankly hiking up and down mountains is a very good way to gain muscles.
